"Count Dracula Bites Mia" | Cozy Halloween

Fantasy Paranormal Teen & Young Adult

When Mia’s car dies in a cemetery, something ancient and irresistible rises to greet her.

I had the most extraordinary encounter with Count Dracula, yes, that Count Dracula.

Believe it or not, it happened.

I was rushing home from the movie theater, still buzzing from the final twist of a Halloween thriller. The night air was crisp, the moon was full, and my bag of candy rustled beside me like a cheerful reminder of the trick‑or‑treaters waiting in my building. I should have taken my usual route home, and stayed on the main road. But excitement, impatience, and a touch of overconfidence convinced me that a shortcut through the old cemetery would save time.

That was my first mistake.

*****

The cemetery stretched across several acres, dotted with ancient headstones and towering mausoleums. Fog curled low across the ground, drifting like pale fingers between the graves. My Volkswagen Tiguan rolled forward without issue, until it didn’t. The engine sputtered once, twice, then died completely. The dashboard went black. The headlights dimmed to a weak, ghostly glow.

The car coasted forward as if guided by invisible hands, and stopped directly in front of a massive stone crypt. The name carved across the front shimmered in the moonlight, bold and unmistakable: COUNT DRACULA.

A heavy stillness settled over everything. The wind stopped. The insects quieted. Even the fog seemed to pause, as though the entire graveyard were waiting for something.

I stayed inside the car and immediately called GEICO (Government Employee Insurance Company), my trusted insurance company. The agent promised to send a tow truck, though her voice wavered when I whispered my location. I tried to laugh it off, but she made me nervous.

While I waited, I scrolled through my social media feed, pretending everything was normal.

Then a whisper brushed against my left ear.

“Look up.”

My breath caught.

Slowly, very slowly, I lifted my eyes. And there he was. Count Dracula himself stood outside my window.

Tall. Handsome. Magnetic. His presence felt ancient and commanding, as though the night itself bowed to him. His cloak moved like liquid shadow, rippling even though the air was still. His eyes glowed with a depth that suggested centuries of secrets, tragedies, and desires. He looked both impossibly real and impossibly unreal, like a dream stepping into the waking world.

I couldn’t move. I couldn’t speak. I could only stare.

He spoke first, his voice smooth and resonant, carrying an authority that wrapped around me like velvet:

Count Dracula: “Mia, step out of the car and come to me. I have summoned you here.”

My hand moved to the door handle before my mind caught up.

Mia: “Alright.”

He extended a hand, elegant, steady, impossibly pale.

Count Dracula: “I desire to drink your blood and make you my eternal companion.”

The words should have terrified me. Instead, they settled over me like a strange, inevitable truth.

Mia: “Very well. I’ve grown weary of the boring world of mortals anyway.”

His expression softened, almost approving.

Count Dracula: “Are you prepared, Mia?”

Mia: “Yes. Sink your fangs into me.”

He stepped closer, his presence overwhelming yet strangely comforting, as if destiny itself had wrapped around us. The world seemed to narrow to the space between us, the moonlight, the silence, the ancient crypt watching like a witness.

And so, Count Dracula leaned in and sank his teeth into my neck, sealing my fate forever.

From that moment on, I ceased to be Mia Z. Edwards.

I became, Mrs. Mia Z. Edwards - Dracula!
