Girl Talk
Lizzi has been getting love notes, poems, and videos from a person in love with her, and she has no idea who this person is. Lizzi and her friends start investigating to find out who this person is.
Chapter 1
I never thought that I was that bad looking for a woman. I am no sexy swimsuit model, but I am pretty good-looking for a short, middle-aged, heavy-set lady. I’m five feet zero inches tall, weigh 175 pounds, and have light green eyes and long blond hair with red highlights.
I have a very outgoing personality, am humorous, love the outdoors, seldom drink, and am romantic. So I ask myself countless times, What is wrong with me?
Nothing, that’s just it. So why don’t guys like how I look on my profile on some dating websites? I have a lovely photo of myself sitting on a swing wearing a nice summer outfit and another picture of me standing next to a wooden fence wearing a casual dress. I am not showing any of my goodies in either of those photos. Maybe the guys are picky, or I am just overdoing it with how I think. I don’t know.
“Lizzi, Lizzi, girl, snap out of it. You’re thinking out loud again.” Lara says to Lizzi as she leans over from her desk:
“Sorry. I didn’t know I was thinking that loudly.” I said to Lara.
“Lizzi, girl, I can hear you over here in my cubicle,” Ashlynn shouted to Lizzi.
“Girl, you need a fuck buddy. someone that can bang all that worry out of you.” Lara said to me.
“Oh yeah, like I want some guy to bang the hell out of me daily,” I said while laughing.
Anthony listened to the conversation from his desk, leaned over, and smiled. “Hey! Lizzi, I would happily help you with that worrying problem.” Anthony said to me while smiling.
“Anthony, does the word wife mean anything to you? I am sure Monica wouldn’t be happy with you sowing seeds in another garden.” Ashlynn told Anthony.
“She wouldn’t be if she found out, and if she did, I would just tell her that I am cheering up a good friend,” Anthony said to Ashlynn while smiling at me.
I look at Anthony with a sick look on my face. “Boy, go! You are not going to get me caught up with Monica.” I spoke harshly to Anthony.
“I am willing to help,” Anthony said to me.
“Anthony, go pound sand and play in traffic. In other words, get lost.” Lara told Anthony with a firm voice.
” Okay, Okay, I’m leaving. Anthony said.
I watched Anthony get up from his desk and leave the office to go to lunch. I was looking at Lara and thinking about what she said. That doesn’t sound like a bad idea, having a fuck buddy or friend with benefits. At least there will be some relationship.
It was time for lunch, and I didn’t want to spend the hour sitting in the lunch room when it was nice and warm outside.
“I have an idea. Instead of eating in the lunchroom, let’s go to the park and have lunch there. I have a taste for a Chicago-style hot dog from one of the vendor carts.” I said to Lara and Ashlynn.
“That sounds like a good idea.” Said Lara.
“That sure does, and who knows, maybe we get the rest of the day off since it is a slow work day,” Ashlynn said, laughing.
“Only if we were so lucky to be told not to come back after lunch. Let’s get going.” I said to Lara and Ashlynn.
Lara, Ashlynn, and I gathered our things and left the office to have lunch in the park. Before we arrived at the elevator, Nia, our floor supervisor, walked over to us.
“Ladies, I heard your conversation, and seeing that it is Friday and most of our clients are traveling and taking care of other business arrangements. You are all free to have the rest of the day off. You're right, Lizzi; it is a slow work day. Ladies, have a nice weekend. See you’ll Monday morning.” Nia told us with a smile on her face.
We all smiled, said thank you, and left the office.
“Nice wishful thinking there, Lizzi. It was a wish come true. Since we have almost a three-day weekend, what should we do?” Ashlynn asked Lara and me.
“I don’t know. Maybe we can help someone get lucky for the weekend,” Lara laughed.
“Hey, now, I have my toy. Besides, I don’t want a one-night stand with a strange guy I will never see anymore.” I said to Lara as we were walking to the park.
“Who said it had to be a one-night stand? Get to know the guy; maybe it will not be a one-night stand.” Lara says to me.
“Okay! Let’s say I let both of you help me find someone. What club or hangout would we go to? I am not down with the girls club, so you two don’t get any ideas.” I stopped in front of the vendor cart and told the guy what I wanted. “I’ll have three Chicago-style hot dogs, two colas, and a bottle of passion fruit water. You two tried that before, and it didn’t end well. Don’t worry about paying him. It’s on me.” I told Lara and Ashlynn as we walked to a park bench to sit down and eat.
“Well, there are a couple of places we can go to—Feathers On The River, Diamonds In The Sky, The Ark Deco, and Foxy. There is Park Lane if you want to go to West Park.” Said Lara.
“Foxy and Park Lane, we have to dress in evening gowns or cocktail dresses, and I don’t have anything fancy in my closet. Feathers On The River is a classy, high-end place, but we don’t have to dress like we are going to a ballroom. The Ark Deco and Diamonds In The Sky have a door cover charge.” Ashlynn said to Lara and me.
“Well, we better figure something out before it gets too late, or we are staying home on a Friday night. I am going to do some shopping. Give me a call later on so we can talk about what the plan for tonight is. Cya both later.” I told Lara and Ashlynn when I got up and left to go shopping.
Getting the afternoon off from work was a wish come true, and we didn’t mind. This will be an exciting weekend with Lara and Ashlynn trying to fix me up with someone. I must be crazy for wanting them to set me up with a strange guy.
Chapter 2
After leaving Ashlynn and Lara at the park, I drove to Hilltop Food Mart and went to stop by Cell Phone Plus to get a new phone, since my current one is getting a little old.
As I was on my way, I received strange texts from someone who had been watching me. When I pulled into the Hilltop Food Mart parking lot, I was kind of creeped out by it. As I looked at the text message on my phone, I was shocked by what was written.
“Lizzi, I know you don’t know who I am, but I have been watching you and falling in love with you since the first day I saw you. I love the way you flick your hair back when it lays over the right side of your face. I enjoy seeing you smile and laugh. It makes me feel like I am standing in a gentle breeze on an open beach with no one around. I want to come up to you and say hi to watch your sweet smile, which gives me a chill every time I see it.” From an unknown person.
After reading something that made me have mixed feelings. I sat in my car for a moment, reflecting on the depth of the passion this person has for me. A few minutes later, I got out of my car and walked over to Hilltop Food Mart to do some food shopping.
It didn’t take me long to get what I wanted and left Hilltop Food Mart. Since Cell Phone Plus was in the same lot, I walked over there with my two bags of food. I quickly got a new phone and left the store.
On my way back to my car, Lara called to discuss our plans for the evening, and I had to tell her about the unusual text message I received.
"Hey, Lizzi. "Ashlynn and I were thinking about going to Feathers On The River, and yes, I know it's a classy place, but it beats dressing up in a gown or paying a cover charge at the door like the other two clubs," Lara said to me.
"That's perfectly alright. I can certainly find something fancy to wear from my closet," I replied to Lara as I got into my car to drive home.
I made my way through the busy streets. As I was driving home. I couldn't help but tell her about my recent experience. "Lara, you won't believe what happened to me today. I received a strange text message from an unknown number. The sender claimed to have been watching me at work and confessed to having fallen in love with me."
“Wow! I am speechless now. What did this person say to you?” Lara asked me.
“It is hard to explain. I will forward it to you so you can read it yourself. Hang on for a minute. I am just pulling into my driveway.” I told Lara.
I forwarded the text message to Lara so she could read it. “Lizzi, I don’t know what to say. This person is really in love with you. I mean, this is deep. Do you have any idea who is watching you? Lara asked me.
“I thought it was Anthony because of what he said at work today, but then I realized it couldn't be him because Monica would freak out. So, it has to be someone in the workplace or even in the building." I told Lara as I walked into my house with my things.
Lara spoke in a hushed tone. "It has to be someone on the same floor as us," she said, her voice tinged with concern.
"With 20 floors in this building, it would be nearly impossible to determine if someone from a different floor was involved." I paused in thought. "I mean, think about it. We don't even know half the people who work in our building, let alone who have access to each floor."
I stopped talking for a couple of seconds to put my bags on the counter and continued talking. “We interact with so many people throughout the day in that building that it would be hard to say who it is,” I told Lara as I was putting away my food.
“You're right about that. It would be hard to figure out who he is, but about tonight, Feathers On The River sounds good to you?” Lara was asking me.
“That sounds good to me,” I said to Lara, standing in my kitchen.
“Cool, I’ll let Ashlynn know, and we will pick you up around 8ish,” Lara said.
"Okay, that sounds good to me. Oh! Show Ashlynn that text. I want to hear what she says about it when you two come and pick me up.” I said to Lara walking to the living room.
“I will do that. See you later this evening, bye.” Lara said to me and hung up.
I sat on the sofa and turned on the tv and a movie called Whisper Meadows was on. It was a little after three in the afternoon, so I figured I could kill two hours watching this movie. I fell asleep watching this love story drama when Ashlynn called me around 6:30 that evening.
“Lizzi, girl! Lara and I’ve been blowing up your phone trying to reach you for an hour and a half.” Ashlynn was telling me.
“Crap! I fell asleep watching this movie.” I said to Ashlynn.
“Lara and I will be coming over at 7:30. That is an hour from now,” Ashlynn told me.
“Fuck, it’s 6:30. I will be ready when you two get here,” I said to Ashlynn, then hung up.
I got up, went to the bathroom to shower, and found something nice to put on when I came out. I put on a lovely white and black lace outfit. The pants were black with black shorts, and the leg part was all lace. The blouse had lace sleeves with a white top in the middle. I did my hair and put a little make-up on. I am not a big fan of it and put on a nice pair of sandals.
I finished getting dressed just in time when Lara and Ashlynn came over. Lara knocked on my door hard, like she was trying to break it down. I left my bedroom to open the front door in the living room. I opened my front door, and Lara and Ashlynn were laughing at me as they came in.
“Lara, next time, kick the door down. It will be a bit more effective than knocking on it.” I said to Lara, laughing.
“Don’t give me any ideas; I might do that next time. Are you ready to go because... Wait! I know you are not wearing sandals with that outfit you have on.” Lara said to me as she looked at the sandals I had on.
“You do know me, and high heels and I don’t get along. So, I don’t buy them.” I said to Lara.
“Oh, Hell, Naw! You are not about to bounce out of here looking like who did it, what for, and please don’t do it anymore. Girlfriend, take off those sandals and find something else to put on.” Ashlynn said to me, laughing.
“I am not about to take these sandals off. These sandals are very nice looking and go well with what I have on, and seeing how both of you don’t like my sandals, you can buy me a pair of high heels on the way to the club.” I sarcastically said to Ashlynn.
“Lizzi, you are a mess, girl. Let’s get going.” Lara said to Ashlyn and me while laughing.
We all got into Lara’s car and headed to Feathers On The River. When we arrived there, the music was loud and booming. The place was packed for a Friday night, and Lara, Ashlynn, and I saw a lot of eye candy inside the club. Lara parked her car in a parking lot across from the club.
“Look at all those nice-looking guys. That is what I like about this place. It is an open-air venue on the river.” Said Lara as she was getting out of her car.
“Look at him! I might be going crazy for some cocoa pop later on.” Ashlynn smiled while watching some of the guys going into the club.
“Girl, you done lost your mind,” I said to Ashlynn, laughing as we got out of the car.
“There is nothing wrong with looking. Who knows, maybe one of those charms might be lucky.” Lara said to me while we were standing in front of her car.
“Yeah, right, and the first guy you meet tells you that you’re nothing but a square trying to get a nut,” I said to Lara, looking at her and smiling.
“Oh, Hell, Naw! You are not right for saying that.” Ashlynn and Lara shouted, laughing at me.
“Keep it up, and they will find you ass float in that river by morning. Come on, let’s go inside.” Lara sarcastically said to me as we walked over to the club.
We found a table not far from the dance floor when we walked inside the club. We sat at the table when the bartender came over and asked us what we wanted to drink. We gave him our order and decided to go out on the dance floor to dance a bit before returning to our table.
Ten minutes passed, and some guy started dancing with Lara and Ashlynn. A few minutes later, I was dancing with a lovely gentleman. We danced for the next twenty minutes before returning to our table to have the drinks we ordered.
“My feet are killing me in these heels. It is so hard to dance in high heels.” Ashlynn said, sitting at the table.
“Girl, mine is hurting me as well. I need to rest a bit before returning to that dance floor.” Lara said while sipping on her coke and whiskey.
“Now you both see why I don’t wear high heels because I don’t want to deal with my feet hurting me all the time,” I said to Lara and Ashlynn, drinking my soda.
Lara and Ashlynn both stuck their tongues out at me and laughed. “Lara sent me your text message, which freaked me out while I read it. Do you know who this person is?” Ashlynn asked me, sipping on her gin and juice.
“I have no clue who this person is. I have been thinking about it, and the only thing I can think of is that he works in the building on another floor, or he is a client.” I said to Ashlynn.
“He might be a client. Think about it. We work for a high-end brokerage accounting firm dealing with people who make serious money. I am not talking about nickels or dimes here. Plus, there are other high-end companies in the building that we do business with.” Ashlynn told me.
“Ashlynn is right. We have clients that come and go throughout the day, and seeing how we do accounting for other companies in the building could be one of their clients.” Lara was saying to me.
“I don’t know. It is kind of strange that I get a text message like this. Anyway, I don’t want to talk about it anymore tonight. I am too busy having fun.” I told Lara.
For the next three hours, we danced, laughed, and talked to a couple of guys at the club before leaving to go home. At 11:00, we left the club, and Lara took me home. We talked about the guys we met, even though nothing came of it.
Lara dropped me off at my house. I said goodnight to Ashlynn and Lara, then told them I would call in the morning. Lara drove away as I walked up to my front door to go into my house. When I entered, I took off my sandals by the front door and dropped my purse on the sofa as I walked to my bedroom.
I took off my outfit, put on a pair of shorts and a tank top, got in bed, and turned on the TV. Before falling asleep, I get another text from the person who sent me the first one early in the day. The message was long and romantic. Whoever this guy is, he has strong feelings for me. I have to show this to Lara and Ashlynn tomorrow. They are going to flip.
