Hardcore Honey & the End of Z World

Action Horror Science Fiction
5 min read

A Hardcore Honey short story. Be careful, she's badass. Also an 'End of Z World' crossover.

It was like that scene from the Terminator movies, or at least that’s what Honey thought it must’ve been like when she had chance to think about it, after the event. It was far from being the first time she had made such an entrance though, and there was little doubt in her mind that there would be many such occasions to come.
One minute there was nothing, assuming one counts a group of three individuals fighting for their very lives against what in truth was probably a relatively small horde of zombies. And the next Honey was there beside them, crouching on one knee and bollock naked, complete with the accompanying and most-likely customary stray bolts of lightning.
Oddly, the electrical discharge didn’t appear to have any effect at all upon the undead, and perhaps more by luck than judgement those fighting for their lives managed to avoid getting hit, too.
Honey had little opportunity to worry about anything though, other than jumping straight into the fray alongside those she hoped would prove to be human - she traversed the Multiverse so often and encountered various iterations of life that one never could be absolutely certain, though it was at least a reasonably safe bet.
“Bat me!” she called out, having noticed the female of the three fighters appeared to have a spare cricket bat hitched to the belt at her waist. Before she had the weapon in hand Honey found herself set upon by a pair of zombies, their teeth gnashing and grimy hands reaching for her.
“I figure we play by standard zombie lore here, right?” she asked, as with deceptive strength she managed to hold the creatures at bay.
“Aye, take out the head,” the girl replied as she managed to toss the cricket bat in Honey’s direction whilst simultaneously subjecting a hungry member of the undead community to a lump hammer uppercut.
Honey nodded. Pushing the two creatures with which she was dealing temporarily away she reached for the cricket bat. Her fingers clasped the grip and without missing a beat, she swung powerfully as the zombies advanced upon her once more.
Insides and entrails went everywhere, and by the time the four of them had dealt with the horde it would not have been obvious to any onlooker that Honey was, in fact, completely and totally naked. The thick coating of guts and shit and whatever else covered almost her entire body.
“You alright?” one of the two males asked of her. “I mean we’ve seen some crazy shit, you might’ve noticed there’s a zombie apocalypse going on. But I know sci-fi when I see it. Time travel?”
“More like multiversal travel,” Honey replied, attempting vainly to wipe the crap from her eyes. “Something wrong though, can’t get a handle on it.”
Honey knew exactly why she was unable to control her travels, but she wasn’t about to introduce the concept of an evil sorceress into what was quite clearly an already mightily fucked up reality.
“I probably won’t be here too long, but I really have no way of knowing. It’s like, the multiverse pulls me where it needs me at any given time.”
“Nice to be wanted, eh?” the girl replied with a grin, proffering a packet of cigarettes. “These things are in short supply, but we do like to treat ourselves after any successful melee.”
“Good shout.” Honey’s grin matched that of the girl’s and she reached out with the intention of accepting the offer. Before she could do so however, she was gone. There was no electrical discharge to signal her disappearance, she was simply not there - it was as if she never had been.
“The lass wasn’t wrong.”
“Fucker of a way to live though, eh? Hope she gets that shit straightened out.”

Enough of this bullshit. I’m Hardcore fucking Honey. No fucker uses me as a fucking puppet.
Honey did not know exactly whereabouts she was. Time and Space, Space and Time, those entities had tendency to get more than a little bit murky.
She sought solid ground, or solid something. If she was able to put her fist through it, whatever it was, it would do the trick.
Whether it was actually there or she somehow manifested it she had no idea. She was not about to complain though when she felt her feet come into contact with something solid.
Certain that the laws of physics did not apply to her at that very moment Honey kicked off. Moments later she found herself moving more quickly than she had ever done so before and when she was in range, she delivered a punch that would not have been out of place in an old school anime.
The Multiverse cracked. It was only temporary, but it was all the time Honey needed. She slipped through the crack and dropped heavily to the ground.
There was something metallic and stickled at her feet. It was dark, incredibly so, and she gave herself a moment or two to acclimatise.
The ground felt familiar, although she was able to say with some certainty that wherever she was, she had never been there. It was a memory, passed through Time and Space.
“Orca, right?”
The vessel hummed in acknowledgement.
“Something feels off; your vocal unit is fried?”
Again, the vessel hummed.
“Anything else fucked?”
Another hum. Honey detected a slight difference and took that as being the equivalent of the vessel shaking its head.
“You know where I want to go?”
The hum, this time, was identical to the original.
“Good girl.” Honey grinned. “Take your time, I’ll fix your vocal unit en route.”
Yet another hum, and Honey surmised it was the equivalent of an excited puppy yapping and wagging its tail.
“Right then… let’s go kick the shit out of this witchy bitch.”

That is the end of Hardcore Honey & the End of Z World. Thanks for reading.
