Love & Betrayal

Humour Romance Science Fiction

A night of celebration turns into a fun three-way battle between lovers, in a good way.

A young man walks into this futuristic bedroom with gray dress pants, and a white shirt, still trying to put on the gray tie that matches the pants. In his early 30s, the African American man is tall, medium built, short-faded hair and a freshly trimmed goatee. He steps in front of a mirror, finishes his tie, and looks to his side.
"Computer, News," says the young man as the news appears in the mirror as he finishes up with his tie and shirt.
The news talks about stocks, weather, and sports as the young man walks over to the bed and puts on his shoes.
"So, you are leaving again." A soft, lovely woman's voice behind him.
"Yes, I am heading out." The young man replied, "It is a time to celebrate."
The young man quickly stands up and walks into his closet. He shuffles through the closet and finds a matching pair of cufflinks with his clothes.
"What are you celebrating?" said the lovely woman's voice.
"My promotion and getting the deal done with Air Armor." Replied the young man.
He walks out of the closet, goes back to the mirror, checks his face, and looks down at the counter.
"Computer, show me the current weather." The mirror shows the current weather outside.
"So, I guess you will celebrate without me again." Said the lovely voice.
"Look…" said the young man turning around towards the bed, "Let's not go through this again. This is no big deal. It is only a small party with friends."
The young man turns around again and faces the mirror.
"Computer, bring the car around in 10 minutes." The mirror reflects the order given, and the young man confirms that the car will arrive in 10 minutes.
The young man walks off again and enters the closet as he shuffles through hangers to find the matching jacket.
"You are bringing her? Aren't you?" said the lovely voice with a sad and disappointing tone.
The young man walks out of the closet, puts on the jacket, and looks toward the bed.
"Here you go again." said the young man, "Every time I do this, I have to hear why I can't go out."
"You can stay here with me and celebrate." said the lovely voice, "You must love her more than me. I feel so betrayed."
The young man takes a breath of laughter, leaning against the counter in front of the mirror.
He looks toward the bed, smiles, and says, "I love you too. It's just that you know I can't bring you."
"But you can bring that bitch." said the lovely voice from the bed.
Suddenly, high heels are heard through the apartment, heading towards the bedroom. A young African American lady is standing there with a long fitted black dress on, silky black braided hair pinned up on top of her head, tall with the heels making her taller, clutching her small black purse in her right hand. She stands in front of the bed and points using her purse.
"Who are you calling a bitch?" said the young lady angrily.
A fluffy gray cat with a unique collar is lying across the bed. The cat looks over at the young lady, and the collars flash.
"Am calling you a bitch." said the cat through the collar, "He doesn't need to bring you anyway."
"What the fuck!" said the young lady, "Who do you think you are?" She continued to point her purse at the cat.
The cat cleans herself, then stops and looks at the young lady.
"I'm Rosie. My human gave the name to me. " she said with a little sassy tone.
The young lady looks over at the young man as he turns around and puts his wallet and phone in his pocket. The young lady turns back around toward Rosie, the cat.
"You know what? I should have never saved your life. When you were abandoned as a kitten, I brought you in here, making sure your ass lived! You'll be in someone's shelter or raccoon food. Ole heffer!" the young lady said, insulting.
With one leg in the air, cleaning her butt, Rosie stops cleaning herself, looks at the young lady, and takes a deep breath.
"Did you just call me a cow?" said Rosie with a shocked tone, "Remember, I know where your shoes are."
"Bitch, I wish you would do something to my shoes!" the young lady angrily pointed her purse at Rosie, "I'll toss your ass off this balcony!"
"That's enough, you two." said the young man, "We are going out and have fun tonight. You are going to lay in bed and watch television. You do have vocal control to change the channels. Does everyone understand that?" as the young man looks at them both.
"Yeah, 'cause I can't understand why I am standing here arguing with a fucking cat." said the young lady folding her arms, not ready to end it.
Rosie continues to clean herself and responds, "I guess so."
The mirror comes on, sending the notification that the car is out front, ready for the young man and young lady. The young man acknowledges the message and gently grabs the young lady by the hand.
"Let's go have some fun." the young man smiles.
The young lady smiles back at him as they head toward the front door.
"Love you!" Rosie yelled as she stopped cleaning herself and looked toward the front door.
"Love you too." The young man responds as the young lady replies, "Oh hell no!! That collar is coming off…" as the door closes behind them.
Rosie stretches, slowly spins around, gets comfortable again in bed, and looks toward a long silver bar at the end of the bed.
"Computer, turn on the TV, reality shows," she says as a holographic image shows a reality show in front of her. Rosie lies there and watches television.
"Humans are so stupid." Her tail waves slowly back and forth in enjoyment.
