Meeting Abigail Benson Part 6

Adventure Fantasy Western

Apple gets into some trouble when Magic leaves his treats unguarded.

The weather sucks. Apple thought to herself. Everywhere there was mud and the yuck of winter.

Neighhhhhhhh!!!!

She called out to Magic.

No answer.

Abigail had taken him out dressed in his fancy bells to trot around town.

Everywhere she looked, it was either too muddy or too icy to enjoy the pleasures of living outside. This meant that Apple spent most of her days in her shelter. Hiding from the displeasure of the overly muddy Haida Gwaii winter, she sulked.

It was a good thing the large white horse had never wintered elsewhere. Knowing that the entire world wasn’t this wet and gross might not be good
for the Andalusian’s mental health.

Her human, being the loving and devoted human she is, had made hanging toys for both her and Magic. Abigail has carefully suspended them in their respective shelters. Attached with awful spring-like ropes that made them difficult to gobble. This frustrated Apple. She likes to remove the tiny morsels hidden inside as quickly as possible.

She left her toy and looked at Magic’s.

Apple was sure Magic’s treats would be better than hers, and he wasn’t here to defend his stash. Those treats were as good as hers.
Neighhhhhhhhh!!!! She called out again.

Still no answer.

Apple wasted no time. She went straight for the pony’s shelter. Her large muscular lips flipped at the pieces of wood that prevented her from going through the gate. They were extremely dexterous lips. With great effort, she worked loose some nails that held the boards onto the fence post.

Once the boards loosened, she gave them one big whack. Her large white head freed the board with the mighty blow. She now had access to the forbidden pony-sized shelter.

Apple pressed her brawny white body through the opening of the shrunken gate. It was barely big enough. But that didn’t stop the determined Andalusian from entering. Her pasture mate’s sacred space was hers now.

Magic’s treat dispenser was lower than hers, which made it slightly more difficult. Apple, being crafty, quickly found a trick. Grabbed the container, then clenching it in her teeth, she crushed it. This allowed her to gain control over the contraption. Using the force of her mighty jaw, she tipped her head sideways. The treats then fell into the feeder underneath. A perfect spot for picking up itty bitty snacks.

Apple wished Abigail would leave more goodies inside these contraptions. They never lasted long enough, even though Abigail had told her they were supposed to last all day.

Apple thought if it was supposed to last all day, then her human should put enough crunchies in it. But Abigail never did.

With the treats finished, she headed out of the overly small shelter. Squeezing her oversized body through the undersized gate.

Rrrrrriiiippppppp.....

Apple was stuck in the gate. She tugged a little more, forcing her way through.

Ccrrrackkkkkk!!!!

Finally, she was free.

She stepped forward. Her blanket was firmly hooked on a nail that was planted in a board, intended to keep her out in the first place.

With the broken fence post still attached to her ripped blanket, Apple made her way over the gate. There, she patiently waited for the return of her human and her pony
