Short prose about mob mentality

The Mob Rule
The Mob seemed harmless from afar; they burn and loot at a safe distance while you cheer them on. The destruction is shown on T.V; you live vicariously through the masses as they revolt against the powers that be. You feel like a revolutionary from the comfort of your living room knowing that you are safe because you have the same disdain for the corrupt system we live in. So you sit cheering on the mob without thinking; you justify the excessive violence because it's for the greater good. Finally we are rising up; you admire your bookshelf and see the ideas flutter into reality; the great thinkers of revolt; you are so happy these ideas are being executed on a grand scale; they must have read the same books as me, you think naively. They did but took the ideas and turned them into tyranny; the mob has no use for nuance or complexity; they disintegrate ideas to fit their ideology. You watch as they burn down symbols of greed like large corporate merchants; symbols of power like police stations; symbols of oppression like statues of racist old white men. Their anger has no match as they continue with this wanton destruction. It excites you in a perverse way; the proletariat is revolting against its masters. Before the riots, you watched as these same people slowly destroyed our fabled universities; they clung to division and cancelled anyone who disagreed with their rhetoric; they created their own truth. This trickled its way into journalism which was already on the decline but they gutted it like a pig. It didn't matter, you knew the truth- you were part of the club, the mob was on your side; the right side of history. After vandalising the poor neighborhoods and looting the shops the mob moved like a mold to the gated communities. You very quickly changed your tune and the vangaurd of the revolution became savages of the first order. You denounced them as animals and claimed that it's unethical to violate your rights and your community. Your comfortable world comes crashing down as the vermin come knocking on your door. You're not perfect and something you said has gotten the attention of the mob and they have come for blood. They turned on you because to them nothing matters; they are nihilists not anarchists; they simply want to watch the world burn and have no plan to repair society; civilization will crumble while they are busy burning witches. Eventually they will eat their own and there will be nothing left but ashes. They don't care about freedom, only dominance and control. They bring you into the streets to make you repent; join or be annihilated. You bend the knee because you're a callous coward and they mock you because these parasites lack any humanity. You follow them to the next house like a zombie looking for a brain. The mantra is cult-like but you feel safe in the belly of the mob. You become part of the mob, the undirected anger permeates your whole being giving you a larger purpose. Nothing will satiate this rage.
