Second Date


It is a warm and sunny April morning in London. The birds are tweeting in the trees and building nests. The first flowers are blossoming. The air is fresh and fragrant.


I ring your doorbell. You open the door and smile warmly. We are both feeling more relaxed in each others company. As we walk to the nearby Underground station, I tell you about my plan for the day. You look at me and I can see you are happy and excited.


We get off the Underground train near Marble Arch. There are huge crowds of people. I find a tour bus. We climb the stairs to the open top and we begin our journey around the city, getting on and off the bus. We visit all the major attractions : Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Oxford Street, Big Ben and Parliament House, St Paul's Cathedral and Trafalgar Square! We even go on the London Eye and get a great view of the city. You want to take photos and selfies at every place we visit.


After seeing all these places, I have a surprise planned for you. I call a cab and give the driver directions to the Laser Tag arena. You look at me with a surprised expression but I know you will enjoy this activity. We walk in to the Laser Tag and put on our equipment and laser gun. There is a special event today where 100 players compete to win the trophy. It goes to the last man (or woman) surviving. We enter the arena with a lot of excitement and move around the maze and corridors, both playing competitively. We get to the last round and there are only 10 players remaining! In the final round, the lights are dimmed and Terminator music is played at high volume. The lights flash on and off. One by one, 8 players eliminate each other until just the two of us are remaining! We are both walking and turning, trying to find each other. You see me first and fire at me. I try to move but it is too late. My health indicator lights all go out and I'm eliminated as well. The arena lights come back on. You are announced as the winner of the trophy! As we leave, you keep saying "You are terminated baby" and laughing.


There is a small pizzeria nearby. We go in and order some Italian food. We have pizza, garlic bread and some gelato ice cream. I order vanilla and you order chocolate gelato. After eating, you open your napkin and inside I have written "Sara, you are a beautiful person, inside and out ". You look at me with wide eyes and say thank you.


As we leave the pizzeria, we see a wine bar across the road. You say "Lets go in there..it looks nice". We pick a nice bottle of French Merlot from the menu, the waiter brings it, opens it for us and pours it into two wine glasses. He lights the small candle in the centre of the table. The lighting is low and soft music is playing. We clink our glasses together, start drinking and talking. After two glasses you are laughing a lot and still making jokes about Terminator. I just smile because you are so happy. A nice song starts playing and we see other couples stand up to dance. We stand up as well and start dancing together to the slow romantic music, and we hold each other closely. Sometimes I whisper something in your ear.


It is late. I call a cab and I give him your address. We both get in, and the car moves through the night time city. I can see the city lights reflecting on your pretty face. You are looking sleepy and saying something in Spanish but I don't understand you. Thirty minutes later, I pay the cab driver and we both get out in front of your flat. You clamber out of the taxi and wave bye and blow me a kiss, before entering your flat and closing the door.
