"The Monster Gala: Prelude" | Cozy Halloween
An eight‑part series where glamour, immortality, and hidden motives collide under the jeweled lights of the Monster Gala.
Welcome to The Monster Gala, an eight‑part tale where elegance meets enigma and the night unfolds in slow, deliberate layers of secrets, spectacle, and supernatural charm. This is not merely an event—it is a world unto itself, stitched together with moonlit whispers, ancient rivalries, and the kind of glamour that only creatures of myth can carry with ease.

Inspired by the opulence of the Met Gala, this reimagined affair gathers beings from every corner of folklore, not for frights, but for fundraising.
Vampires glide through the marble halls like living shadows. Sirens hum harmonies that make chandeliers tremble. Witches, warlocks, shapeshifters, and spirits arrive draped in couture that defies physics. And at the helm stands Count Dracula, master of ceremonies, ruler of the undead elite, and, most astonishingly, my husband.
I am Mia Z. Edwards, newly wedded, newly immortal, and still learning how to breathe in a world where breath is no longer required. Immortality has its own etiquette, its own politics, its own quiet dangers. Every glance holds history. Every smile hides a motive. And every creature in attendance has lived long enough to perfect the art of deception.
If you’ve read Count Dracula Bites Mia, then you already know how my world shifted.

But this gala? This is something else entirely.
A night stitched with whispered alliances, unspoken debts, and a guest list curated with surgical precision. Even the moon seems to hover differently above the venue, as if it, too, has been invited.
The evening promises an unforgettable dinner, one course for the living, one for the undead, and one for those who exist somewhere in between.
Performances unfold like spells: aerialists who levitate without wires, dancers who blur into smoke, musicians who play instruments carved from bone and memory.

And then there is the centerpiece of the gala: the long‑awaited posthumous showcase of Adolphus Werewolf’s legendary couture collection.
Adolphus was a visionary, a designer who understood the duality of monstrosity and beauty. His final exhibition, crafted before his mysterious disappearance, is rumored to contain garments woven with enchanted fibers, moon‑blessed metals, and relics from his ancestral pack. Some say the pieces still respond to the phases of the moon.
Others whisper that wearing them invites visions.
During the gala, the truth will finally be revealed.
And yet, beneath all the glittering spectacle, I could feel something shifting, an undercurrent neither magical nor political, but personal. Immortality sharpens intuition, and mine whispered that this gala would mark a turning point. Not just for the supernatural elite gathered under its jeweled lights, but for me, too.

Writing these chapters stretched me in unexpected ways, braiding mystery, legacy, and immortal charm into every scene.
This prelude is the doorway into a world where fashion becomes prophecy, where love finally found me, and where every creature hides a story.
I hope you savor the unfolding drama as deeply as I enjoyed bringing it to life.
