"The Monster Gala: The Black Carpet" | Cozy Halloween

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Monster Costume Institute is hosting its annual Monster Gala in Washington, D.C. The Monster Gala is a charity event that raises money for the Monster Costume Institute, which has preserved thousands of dresses, jewelry pieces, and fashion accessories, both current and vintage—since the eleven hundreds. Keeping this historic institute running is an expensive undertaking.

Dracula, the esteemed trustee of the Metropolitan Monster Museum of Art and honorary chair of the Monster Gala, arrives with his wife, Countess Mia, to walk the Black Carpet leading to the museum’s grand entrance. Their coordinated haute couture outfits pay homage to the late monster fashion designer Adolphus Werewolf, whose visionary “Gothic Black” creations inspired this year’s gala theme and exhibition.
 
As their sleek black Land Range Rover pulls up to the entrance, the crowd of monster fans erupts in overwhelming cheers:

“We love you, Count Dracula!”

“We love you, Countess Mia!”

“Dracula! Dracula! Dracula!”

“Oh, my stars! Countess Mia is fierce!”

“Oh, my goodness, I love them!”
 
Dracula steps out of the SUV and gallantly circles around to open Countess Mia’s door, offering his hand. Together, they stroll down the Black Carpet, basking in the adoration of their fans and the flashing cameras capturing their every move.

Paparazzi jostle for the perfect shot. Reporters stand poised with microphones, eager to uncover the secrets behind the couple’s timeless allure. Television crews from multiple media outlets track their every step.
 
The crowd continues to gasp and shout their admiration, filling the air with declarations of love for Count Dracula and Countess Mia. Cameras click rapidly. YouTube, Substack and Novellea writers type furiously, racing to publish their stories.
 
Countess Mia looks resplendent in her “Gothic Black” ensemble: a black feathered gown by the late Adolphus Werewolf, cinched at the waist with a black leather belt. Long black evening gloves extend to her elbows, and black pointy‑toe leather pumps peek out from beneath her gown. Her hair is slicked back into a high bun, with curls cascading down the sides of her face.
 
Her flawless makeup—black lipstick and black eyeliner—perfectly captures the essence of the Gothic Black theme.
 
Count Dracula exudes elegance in Werewolf’s haute couture as well. He wears a black peak‑lapel, single‑button suit paired with a fitted black French‑cuff dress shirt and silver cufflinks. His ankle‑length pencil‑style pants are complemented by black patent leather loafers.

As they pause on the Black Carpet, reporters call out their questions.

Skelton Reporter: “Count Dracula, what monster designer haute couture are you and Mrs. Dracula wearing?”

Count Dracula: “We are wearing the late Adolphus Werewolf haute couture.”

Mummy Reporter: “Mrs. Dracula, were you able to raise money for the Monster Costume Institute after the gala was canceled last year due to COVID‑nineteen pandemic?”

Countess Mia: “Yes. We held a virtual fundraiser on Webex and met our financial goal for the Monster Costume Institute.”
 
Then the paparazzi turn intrusive.

“Countess Mia, is it correct that you’ve had a Brazilian butt lift and lip fillers?”

"Countess Mia, may I inquire whether you have experienced an addiction to opioids?"

"Countess Mia, did you witness Count Dracula biting another woman soon after your marriage?"
 
“That’s enough questions, everyone,” Count Dracula says firmly.

After completing their Black Carpet walk, the Draculas meet with social media influencers, podcasters, YouTube creators, and Novellea and Substack writers. They pose for photos, give interviews, and engage with the online community to promote the Monster Gala charity.

Finally, Count Dracula, Countess Mia, monster celebrities, fashion moguls, and the monster rich and monster famous stroll through the hallowed hall of the Metropolitan Monster Museum of Art. Their footsteps echo through the dimly lit corridor as they make their way toward the Exhibition Hall to admire the hauntingly beautiful world of the late Adolphus Werewolf’s Gothic Black masterpieces.
