A grieving woman finds healing in a timeless place...through her favorite tree in the park.

Angela was a 51 yr. old woman who loved walking along the park’s trail near her home. She knew walking was also good for the body, the heart, and a great way to meditate. The trail was surrounded by trees of different shapes, sizes, colors, and heights. Some had thick roots pouring out all around them and some had no visible roots at all. Some stood very tall, and others not so tall. There was a tree that had one trunk but came up and split into two. Just Beautifullll! As she walked along the trail, it was as if each tree spoked to her as she passed them by. One day while Angela was walking, she noticed this tall tree with no definition to it, green leaves, no stretched out limbs, or anything that would make someone go, “Oh My! That is a beautiful Tree!” Yet, she felt like it stood out from the rest. She wasn’t sure why it stood out, but it did and she felt it was calling out to her. From that moment on, Angela decided to start acknowledging the tree by speaking to it every time she walked. Angela made that tree her friend in the park. Every day that she would go walking in that park, she would stop, talk, and hug that tree. That tree was like a real friend that would lift your spirits after spilling your guts, sharing your fears, joys, and concerns to, ending in a big tight hug. Angela loved that tree! She called it, “The Timeless Tree!” because she would lose time just sitting and talking with it.

During the summer of 2021, Angela’s grandmother, Elizabeth, had become very ill and made her transition.  She was very close with her grandmother and loved her so very much. Angela’s sadness had caused her to withdraw, staying at home, drowning in grief. On a warm fall evening,  Angela was staring at a picture of her and her grandmother on her granny’s 95th birthday, reminiscing. A strong urge came over her to go for a walk. The urge was so strong that it moved her to the shower, to getting dressed, and before she knew it, she was at her favorite park. As she began to walk, she started to feel sad again and she ran to the tree that had become her friend, her comforter. She hugged it and cried and cried then all of a sudden, she felt herself falling through the tree. When Angela opened her eyes to catch herself and see what was happening, she was in a magical looking forest. It shined so brightly because everything was made out of light with so many different colors! Colors beyond the human imagination. The tulips were like flower light bulbs in every color of the rainbow. There were green shrubs that were like house plants with big leaves like the ones that her grandmother used to have all around her home and garden. She was surrounded by talking insects, fairies, dwarfs, and animals, making her feel like she was Alice in wonderland. The butterflies hummed in harmony with the hummingbirds. Not only were there blue and red jay birds, but orange jay birds, green jay birds, purple jay birds. As Angela looked around in amazement and in awe, taking in beautiful trees of unimaginable beauty, she turned to an old, large oak tree and there stood, her grandmother…. Dressed in a lavender colored moo moo, smiling. Angela…fainted!

Angela was gaining consciousness as she heard her grandmother’s voice softly calling her by her nickname, Angel-ahh… while gently brushing her face. Angela opened her eyes as she found herself laying in her grandmother’s arms. Grandma…. Yes baby-doll, it’s me, smiling looking down at Angela, still gently rubbing her cheeks. Am I dreaming? Is this real? Are you REAL?, Angela asked. Still smiling, her grandmother nodded yes. Her grandmother slowly helped Angela to her feet and they embraced. Angela pulled away and asked, so yes this is real, yes you are real, or yes, this is a dream? Yes to it all, her grandmother replied, smiling. Everything is real and everything is a dream. Everything exist and no-thing exist, her grandmother expressed. Huh? Angela said as she stood up, looking confused. Grandma Liz grabbed Angela’s hand and led her down a path made of rose peddles. Grandma Liz brought Angela to a green prairie of yellow and white Shasta daisies. They sat down on a bench made of firm yet soft lilies, swinging slowly. Grandma asked Angela, do you remember when you were a little girl and I would sit on the bench between my vegetable and flower garden in silence, staring off? Angela shook her head yes. And you would always come up to me and ask, “Grandma, what are you looking and smiling at? Yes, Angela replied. What was my response to you? Grandma Liz reminded her of what she would always say, “I am traveling with my ancestors through my consciousness to other dimensions!” And you would say, I’m going with you grandma and sit and stare off with me? Yes… I do remember. So is this what I am doing, grandma, traveling through my own consciousness? Angela meditated all the time, experiencing stillness, silence, and bliss, however, she never thought of consciousness outside of the human body.

Grandma Liz, smiling, shook her head yes. Baby, all that exist is energy consciousness and energy is infinite and eternal. Consciousness is what most humans call the mind of God. All that is comes from this energy consciousness and it never dies, just transforms. Her grandmother asked her, what do you think the tree you are hugging is made up of? Wood, Angela replied, with an uncertainty of her answer. Grandma Liz, smiling, said, it is energy consciousness. It is why you feel better after you hug it or feel better after telling it about one of your bad days at work. This turned into an ahh ha moment for Angela. She began having thoughts of past memories when her grandma was talking to her plants, talking to her rose bush, telling it how beautiful it was and saying she loved them, bringing them back to life. Angela began to realize that nature being alive wasn’t her imagination, it was… life! Her grandmother grabbed her face, smiling, and says, Angel-ahh, just like you connect to nature, the trees, like I did my plants, you can always connect with me! I Am Eternal and I am always with you! When you are crying yourself to sleep from sadness, or designing an outfit, or praying for a husband, to talking to a tree, I am there because I am within the same energy consciousness where all that is…is… Angela grabbed her grandmother, smiling with tears flowing down her face, hugging her tight, whispering, I love you grandma Liz! I miss you so much! Her grandmother pulled away to grab her face once again, smiling, and said, you don’t have to miss me…just re-member me within the consciousness of your mind… I am just a thought away… while always holding your heart. She kisses Angela’s forehead and Angela finds herself back in the park, still hugging her favorite tree. When Angela opens her eyes, she realizes that it is the same evening, and no time has passed. The sadness and grief had dissipated and an overwhelming feeling of joy filled her entire being. As Angela releases the tree, she smiles, looking up at it, and whispers, thank you, I love you…Timelessly…
