Forgive me if I need love and if it's not too bold.
But who knows really, how much my heart can hold?
-September Mourning,
Heart Can Hold
She was very alone in her home on this evening tide. A large single room flat in the city of angels, Los Angeles were anything and everything goes. This was a happening city, but not as of late with quarantine having everyone in lockdown. She sighed. Every century or so a pandemic seems to happen around the world. The Spanish Flu was just over a hundred years ago. Interesting times they were.
Here and now, she was content to express her creativity. This was a city of many artists for music, art, movies, writing, and so many other forms of creativeness. Hard to make a living in today’s day in age, but if you have the connections things could go well. As, for this young girl her music is on hold and she is at this very moment painting a picture of a faerie, a pixie to be precise. This was a part of her ‘Pixie Girls’ set.
She loved to paint, kept her calm in trying times. Being alone sure was different than being lonely. Normally being alone did not bother her, but as of late she was starting to feel lonely. She had friends and her band mates, even the support of fans. She really enjoyed travelling across the country with the band and singing at the venues. Their performances rocked the night away. To almost be herself on stage. To let out her aggressive energy. To feel happiness. On this, night, however, she felt a deep loneliness. Something that reached deep into her core. It has been forever since she allowed anyone into her heart, a lover, a mate.
She let out another sigh. She kept in touch with everyone possible through social media and what not, but it was just not the same. Weeks of isolation was grating on her nerves. This Coronavirus outbreak reminded her of the many plagues of the past. The Black Death pandemic people isolated themselves then and it did not work, because that plague was spread differently by rats and the fleas on them. That disease too came from Asia when the Mongols attacked. To think all those deaths could have been avoided if our ancestors had just let the cats eat the rats. Maybe anyway.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a ring on her phone. She looked down to see a video feed of her downstairs door to the apartment building. A FedEx delivery man waited. There was a package. She debated a moment to maybe just ignore him not to take the risk. Fuck it! The other plagues never affected her in the past. She buzzed him in and waited. In a matter of minutes there was a knock on the door. She opened it and welcomed him.
“Please, come in and put the package on the table over there,” she said politely in a soft tone and pointed across the room.
“Sure.” He said with a nod. He came in and walked over. She closed and locked the door. Then followed behind him.
“There you go,” he said as he set the package down. He turned to leave, nearly bumping into her. They looked at each other.
“Hi! My name is September!” She offered her hand out to the delivery man. He understood that there should not be any interaction but could not help himself. She was so damned beautiful. So much for ‘social distancing’ and all. He shook her hand. They were soft and slender. A tingling feeling pasted between them. It felt, nice.
Her silver blue eyes glittered as she looked into his desert-like eyes. He was the tall, dark, and handsome type. He was slim and athletic. She took out the tie from her platinum hair and let it cascade down around her shoulders and back. She batted her thick lashes and smiled sweetly. She came closer to him. Her full firm breasts just touched the fabric of his clothing. He took her all in. Admired her moon white skin that seemed to shimmer. He wondered if she had put sparkles on her skin. Her soft full lips were inviting, pierced. She only wore a long white t-shirt and nothing else. His breathing grew rapid as her arms slipped around his neck. She wanted him and no other. There was this connection she could not explain. It happened when they shook hands. His emotions hit her core and she knew he felt the same. He was confused sure, but he would go with it. He felt the yearning just as she did. They would give into it. Her lips brushed his softly, lightly. He let out a low groan. He kissed her with such abandoned passion that it set her heart on fire. A warmth filled her like never, before.
Suddenly, butterfly like wings of light grew from her back and shimmered a soft glow.
Yes! He is the one, she thought gleefully. His eyes took her in with wonderment. He excepted her in all her glory. His next kiss was more passionate. His tongue entered her mouth playfully. She moaned in delight. Then she pulled away briefly.
“Will you stay here with me this night?” she asked as her dainty fingers played along his cheek.
“Yes, I will, darlin,” he replied in a husky voice. She gently pushed him upon the bed and removed her shirt. She crawled on him in a kiss of blissfulness. They light up the night with their sensual love making. At last, someone she could spend her immortal life with. (03/28/20)
September’s Glory
Doors. The ones you never walked through.
Do you see me standing?
Unafraid and unassuming.
I'm yours to take away!
-September Mourning,
Live Like You’re Alive
It was such a wonderful thing to be outside in the dense forests of the mountain range.
September and her newfound mate followed a trail past enormous trees. She has not been in these woods for nearly two hundred years, since the humans were mass chopping these great trees.
To be finally free of isolation and out in the world again was a glory. They had snuck out of the city in the early morning hours. The civil strife had been so terrible that the government enforced marshal law. Roadblocks were set up to every entry road in and out of the city. Only essentials were allowed in public. Anyone caught without their ID or permission would be arrested.
Everyone wore masks and gloves. The pandemic had the citizens of edge. None of that mattered any longer to September. They were in a much safer zone. A place where people did not wander to. These lands were protected by both Fae and human government. Chances of infection reaching out here was extremely slim. Her and the man she loved dearly had managed to dodge law enforcement to get here.
Out here in the sun with the natural world, September felt at peace. It was like being at home. She missed being here in the woods, especially dancing under the moonlight during the night.
September and her mate enjoyed their time together on this fine stroll. They held hands and laughed in joy. Tonight, would be a great night for them. They were happy now that there was no tension on their shoulders.
They came upon a small glade and September became giddy with excitement. It was overwhelming. Her emotions rose high. Into the glade she went and spun around with her arms splayed out. She laughed, her mate along with her.
“This is glorious,” she shouted up at the trees and sky. Her mate laughed and cheered her on. He himself felt at peace, something he had never experienced before. He had not known he was one until he met the love of his life.
September reached out and grabbed his hands. They began to dance until nightfall. The full moon’s light spilled into the glade. Moonbeams glittered and brightened the area. Slowly other creatures appeared to join the couple. At first, they stayed near the edge of the glade. Lights of various colors hovered in the in the air. The young man looked about in wonder. Never had he seen such things in his life. The lights were not lights, at all, but faeries. It was the glow of their wings that heightened the aura of the area.
An owl hooted in a tree. Both predator and prey were together without conflict. This night was a night of peace. Wolf sat with deer. Just as chipmunk sat with badger. There were many animals that surrounded the glade.
September’s wings unfolded. They glowed softly, soothingly. Faeries brought reeds and flowers to the couple. They were crowned. Moonlight filled him in its cool embrace. September held him in her arms. Their kiss was meaningful and full of passion. He too began to glow. His pale skin became the perfect reflection of the moon.
He groaned as wings sprouted from his back. Just as she had suspected all along. The man she loved and desired was a demi-fae. He hoisted her up by the hips. She placed her hands on his face and they kissed longingly. Their passion grew in intensity. Energy patterns swirled around them and filled them. They filled each other. Not just physically, but with magic. Their auras became one. This was a fae marriage. One that would last forever. (06/18/20)
September’s Pain
Stay with me ‘til you see heaven
And when you close your eyes
You will feel paradise.
-September Mourning.
‘til You See Heaven
They were escaping!
Journeying deeper into the woods. Somehow, a few humans found out about the existence of their kind. They now fled for their lives.
The quarantine had been lifted and people were out in the world again.
September’s pace had been slowing. Her newfound husband was also tiring. He would do everything he could to protect her.
They kept their wings hidden. Did not want the glow to give away their position. They must find more of their kind. Soon, they hoped to be near a fae colony.
September hoped to make it there, and soon. Her growing belly and wounded husband slowed their progress. He had been shot by a human weapon. He was strong, but the loss of blood made him flag, wobbling.
Way in the distance, dogs were heard barking. Shouts soon arose, afterward. The commotion was coming closer. Humans and their rifles. Guns of destruction. They had hurt her beloved. She wanted to make them pay. Now, may not have been the time. Perhaps, another day.
Panic started to consume September. She was unsure if her magic would be powerful enough to defend them from their attackers. No matter how drained she felt, she would do what was necessary to protect her husband. She was not about to lose the love of her life after just finding him.
She was so tired. They could go no further. It would be a fight to the finish this night.
Her husband begged for September to kept going.
“You must leave. I will hold them off for as long as I can,” his pleading tone was cracked and strained.
She was not so naïve to know what that meant. She could not bring herself to leave. She would stay. If they died together so, be it.
“I will never leave you my love,” September said. Her heart broke. There was no way they could survive.
His lips suddenly meet hers in a finally kiss. Passion heated them. Caressed them. They were true.
“Save our child,” he murmured to her. September stared in open mouthed shock as he turned around and charged head long into the enemy.
Men with guns came out of the brush. Two dogs ran ahead of the group of humans.
September’s husband’s magic of ice shards tore into the hounds. Their yelps of agony were all the sound from their muzzles as they fell, never to move again.
Shots rang out. Loud ammo fire that split the night. Bullets ripped into her husband. Blood splattered her face and breast. He fell to the ground so slowly. He turned back toward her, and she saw what she had hoped to never see. An empty stare looked upon her as time slowed further. His body hit the ground, and everything stopped. All was still.
September went into shock.
Move!
Do something, September. Anything!
Her eyes began to glow. Blue lightning flashed from them. They spiderwebbed and reached out like tendril fingers. The bolts struck their marks. Tore and burned through them like lightning flashes from clouds. No one was spared. All the humans were dead. Nothing but charred bodies littered the ground. A fate deserving of such hateful people.
September knelt to the forested floor. She gathered her husband to her and held his lifeless form close. She sobbed. Tears of heartache that would never heal streamed down her pale cheeks. Her pain was unlike anything that she could have ever felt before. She would never love another again.

September’s Happiness
As we burn through the world
We are children of fate
And we are one.
-September Mourning,
Children of Fate
This was a day and night that should have been of happiness for September. Unfortunately, she still mourned her lost love. The husband that protected her and the unborn she carried. She missed him terribly and wished that he could be here now for her.
She touched her swollen belly gently. She would give birth soon. September was positive that she would bring her child into the world tonight.
The little fairy folk kept bringing her gifts. It was sweet of them to do so. A smile curled her lips after all. This was the first spark of joy to have settled warmth within her.
There was a light. Dim as it was, but it was there. Fae started to gather around to comfort her in her time of need. She was incredibly grateful to them. The fae and faerie folk were her family now. Even though she had lived among humans for over two hundred years, she no longer trusted them. They had killed the love who was precious to her. She wondered briefly if that included the friends and band mates that were once close to her? Could she ever bring herself to ever go back to them? She was too heartbroken to want to find out.
A sharp pain suddenly rippled through September’s abdomen. She groaned long and deeply. She gritted her teeth as she clenched her fists. She quickly took control of her breathing.
The pain subsided. It would return soon. She would be ready. The contractions would get worse and become more frequent.
September rubbed her belly again and began to hum softly. She was a pixie, a creature of faerie. A Sidhe. She possessed great magic. A magic she barely ever used.
This child, her child, had to be born. Her husband’s child. How she missed him. He should be here for the birth. The dead can never be here with the living. Tears stung her eyes at the thought.
A sob escaped her mouth as another bout of pain stabbed its way through her.
It was time!
The baby would be born into this world… now!
Mother to be screamed.
She hurt. The pain wracked through her body. September was bringing new life into the world. She looked to the full bright moon. A soothing comfort suddenly overtook her. The pain remained. She just did not feel it as before.
There was something else. A light filled her. Her eyes glowed blue. It completed her and there was a release as she pushed hard. Joy embraced September like a soft blanket.
A cry!
Her baby was crying!
Sweat coated September and chilled her body. She panted out of breath; her chest heaved. A shiver coursed through her.
A fae woman with horns spiraling up out of her head, cradled the baby. The midwife. She looked feline in appearance. No whiskers though. But sure, had the ears of a cat. She was a pretty fae. A buxom woman with kind features to match. She gently handed the babe over to September. September embraced her precious daughter and held her close.
Her baby instantly stopped crying the moment a mother’s touch was felt.
There was an overwhelming joy in September’s heart. Tears of happiness streamed steadily down her cheeks like dew drops.
Moonlight shined down upon the new pixie mother and child. Its rays soothed their souls. Her baby was a glory to behold. A wonderous slice of life.
It was time to move forward, now. To move on into the unknown future ahead, without the love of her life. To go on with a new love in her life. A love of their child. From now on there would not be anything greater than that. September would live for the future.
September gently touched the brow of her baby daughter. The pale skin began to glow softly.
So, much love could be felt by all around.
Hope!
Hope for the future.
This would-be September’s daughter’s name! (01/07/21)
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing, seasons,
bring the best to you and yours!
-Irish Blessing
September’s Peace
We might be through with the past, but the past isn't through with us
Hung overhead like storm clouds
Wash away what we've become.
-September Mourning,
Before the Fall
Serene!
So, many years have gone by.
Hope was growing up quickly. She is now a little girl of ten years. Her skin was pale as moonlight, just like her mother. Her eyes were a deep blue with sandy flicks around the iris. Her eyes were more human like, as were her father’s.
He was only part fae and mostly human. A wonderful man he had been.
Hope was born of three worlds. She was Sidhe like her mother. She was also fae and human like that of her father. She also had his dark hair, except for the silver strains throughout.
Hope was September’s love for the future. Her beautiful daughter is the joy of her life. Her heart was true.
They would dance in the moonlight, beneath the starlit sky.
September has felt peace all these years since her daughter’s birth. She missed her husband, always would, but the memories of him and the love they shared kept her content.
Hope ran up to September. Her bright coloured iridescent wings spread wide and flew into her mother’s arms, a huge smile on her petite face.
September embraced Hope tightly. Her heart became warm, a feeling that she would never give up ever again.
They twirled around in laughter. Others that were in the grove watched and smiled. Creatures great and small gathered at the small creek that splashed into a spring that was fresh and revitalizing.
“I love you Mommy,” Hope said happily, full of giggling laughter.
“I love you too Hope, my dear sweet girl,” September’s voice was full of joy.
This grove is their home and has been for so many years, now.
Safe!
Secure!
Faeries danced and flitted about. The grove lit up from the glow of their wings.
A garden of peace! (01/07/21)
Hope’s Garden
Cause you gave me an empire
You made me your only queen
I didn’t know that my throne was built on guilt and fantasy.
-September Mourning,
Empire
September and her daughter Hope hovered in the garden grove. Their wings glowed softly. Magic filled them. It was empowering.
Hope’s eyes glowed with power. Her energies emanated and grew.
The forest responded. Leaves on the trees began to glow green. The flowers glowed to the shade of their colour.
Mother and daughter danced on currents of air. Playful laughter upon their lips of joy. Happiness filled their hearts.
Here, among all the growing things, new shoots sprout green leaves. Flowers opened their blooms to the world.
A breeze shifted the veil and brought a calming of emotions.
September began to sing. Her voice rose in pitch to a height of harmonious balance. Her song was bright and full of promise. The lyrics were enchanting. The melody flowed along like an evening tide.
Hope hummed along with her mother. She fluttered in the air to continue the dance.
Faeries of all sorts were in the grove to listen. To dance. To sing along in peace. They were a multitude of colours that spread out everywhere like a flower bed.
September’s voice lured more fae and Sidhe to the grove.
I sing for those we love;
A song that will reach you all.
Praise the fallen;
Loved ones long gone.
These words touched the hearts of those that were in the grove. They were moved to tears. Some even wiped their eyes. Husband and wife hugged one another close. Children were cuddled and held tightly.
Journey into the fae forest;
Follow the serene path.
Magic fills our very breath;
Let the world be full of light.
These words spoken to everyone who has made the journeys into the outside world and had come home.
I will comfort you, my daughter;
Protect you from the human world.
Gather here in Nature’s Garden;
Join our sacred spiritual circle.
This turn in the lyrics were more personal for September. Words for her daughter. That she would always have a home here in forest that will keep her safe.
Come to me my children;
Leave a prayer here.
Feel at home in our grove;
Blessed by our mother who greets thee.
She finished her song with a long-winded rise. When she stopped singing, her voice trailed in the grove like an echo for a short time. There was a brief moment of silence. September smiled upon her daughter Hope, the light of her life.
Birds began to chirp once again. The gathered people applauded and cheered, giving praise to the song.
Hope hugged her mother fondly.
Here in this grove was Hope’s playland and home. She learned to sing and dance here. Wield her magic with her mother. She has never known sadness. It was an experience that September wished her daughter would never know.
Here!
Was Hope’s Garden of happiness.

September’s Return
I won't be the one (I will be there)
To leave you all alone (I hear your call)
To drown in yourself (I won’t leave here)
A place to call your own (leave you alone)
- September Mourning,
A Place to Call Your Own
They had wandered the mountainous forests for weeks. They left the Canadian Rookies and made their way over the border into the U.S. Farther south they went until inside Cali State.
They were faerie folk and kept themselves hidden with magic when needed. They were pixies. They would walk when they had to and fly when it was possible.
Closer to the human civilizations now. When they reached the giant city, they would have to hide their true appearances and not use magic, unless it was absolutely necessary. This meant no wings or flying. No glowing whatsoever. They had to look human. No magic!
“No, pretty sparkly eyes,” September warned her daughter.
“Yes, Mother. I understand!” Hope acknowledged with a nod of her head.
Out of the Rookies. Out of the forests and surrounding terrain. Into the city of Los Angeles.
It has been almost seventeen years since September was last here. She has returned and brought her daughter Hope along. It was time to show her what the human world was about. To learn what most were truly, like. For good or bad.
The city was loud with many noises that were hard to distinguish. There were many sounds in the forests but never so many at once and that were too loud.
Everything was so strange and foreign to Hope. She just did her best to follow her mother’s example. She tried hard not to gap and look around too much like some lost foreigner. It would be bad to draw attention themselves. Hope felt overwhelmed. She desperately wanted to cover her ears to blot out rare sounds she has never heard before.
They went further into the jungle of concrete and steel.
Hope was afraid to be here. It was too crowded with people. The atmosphere was rushed with emotions she did not recognize. Anger, hatred, sadness, and other anxieties. Those were not the only feelings felt. There was also love, joy, happiness, and different excitements to be had.
For September it was familiar, yet there were so many changes made. For the most part the streets downtown were still the same.
They had arrived at the building where September once lived, in her old life. A life she admittedly missed a little.
The doors to the entrance were of course locked, but the use of magic made it easy for them to be opened undetected. In they both went. Up the stairs to the level of her old apartment.
September had a feeling who might have taken over her place when she had disappeared with Hope’s father. The two women stood before the apartment door for a few moments. September took a deep shuddering breath. Then knocked.
When the door opened, a short stocky muscled man with long dark hair stood there. His handsome Asian features looked on in shook. His dark eyes disbelieving in what they saw.
“Hi, Riv. It’s been a while, huh!” September said with tears in her eyes. She hugged her long-time friend and guitarist of the band they had once been in together.
“September! I can’t believe that you are here and alive,” the man spoke in joy. He hugged her back. He was happy to see his friend again. He then noticed the girl. He motioned for them to come into his place. They stepped in.
September smiled with pride.
“This is my daughter, Hope,” she said.
“A pleasure to meet you hope. My name is Riv,” he greeted and held out his hand. Hope shook his hand. They were rough, calloused.
He was surprised to see his long-time friend. He was happy.
A daughter!
They sat down at the dining table and talked about their lives. September told him everything. How she had felt lonely and how she had met her husband. Riv knew about her. Always has. He grew up knowing September and how she never aged. She showed him her magic a few times. That was when he was a kid. September continued her story about what had happened to her husband. This was the first time Hope cried. Poor girl had never known her father.
Riv then spoke about his life. How the band split after her disappearance and everyone went their separate ways. Riv had made some art pieces and was now a teacher. He loved his job and it showed. That he was happy with his family. Wife and two children, son, and daughter.
All those years ago, Riv was the only human she had ever trusted with her secret. Knew she was a pixie. He never judged her for it. Treated her as an equal. He had kept her secret all this time.
“I’m so sorry Riv, for leaving without telling you,” September said sadly.
“It’s alright, September,” he replied in understanding.
“I just prayed that you had found the happiness you so deserved. I see you have found it,” he smiled. His gaze went to Hope.
Unfortunately, it was time to leave now. Both September and Riv frowned. This would be the last time they would ever see one another.
“I had to return to make sure you were doing alright,” September said. Her heart felt like it was breaking.
Hope watched with interest.
Her mother had two centuries which equalled many lifetimes with humans. A whole different world in the one Hope had grown up in.
The two friends embraced.
“I shall miss you,” September choked out and wiped tears from her eyes.
September and Hope left. Riv stood in the doorway for a long time.
A tear drop fell.
“Goodbye September.” (01/12/21)
Hope’s Freedom
If light burns true
You'll always find me.
Without a doubt they always knew
Our love was blinding.
-September Mourning,
Crimson Skies
Hope had asked her mother for permission to leave and go to the human city that she visited before.
September was all for it and told her daughter that she appreciated and was grateful for being informed of Hope’s decision. She had reservations about her daughter going out into the world alone. It was safe here in the grove. It is a sanctuary.
The Pixie Queen, as September has become to be known, could not blame that her daughter wanted to explore the human world, just as she once had. Still, she worried about the dangers there.
Hope knew that her mother would worry the entre time she was gone.
She remembered the way to the huge city. How could she ever forget her first time experience out of her home.
She travelled the mountainous forested paths. Used her wings to fly when she was not near any human colonies. Her magic kept her hidden from any dangers that may await. As bad as humans could be, there were worse creatures out there.
Dark fae. Some only preyed on small animals. Some even preyed on humans and others even killed and ate their own kind.
Hope over the years had been trained well by her mother and the other fae in the grove. They taught her to fight hand to hand combat and with the use of weapons. She learned to survive in the harshness of the woods. The use of her magic could be used as a weapon also, and so much more.
Hope knew what signs to look for. How to protect herself and what areas to avoid.
So, the journey continued until she made it to the city of angels, Los Angeles. She wandered the streets of the city in awe of everything she saw. The buildings were so tall that they reached the sky. No tree in the forest could ever be that tall. This city was still loud and crowded. Too many people lived in too small of a space.
As a pixie faerie, Hope could not understand why these people would live so couped up in such tiny rooms.
Here she was later in life after she had arrived, in the same place that Hope, and her mother had visited. The apartment her mother once lived in and was now occupied by Riv and his family. His wife Raya and son Jason. Their Daughter Nia had her own place somewhere in the city.
Hope sat at the supper table with a family she has grown close to and have accepted her into their family.
When she had shown up, they right away had welcomed her into their home to stay. She has been living here with them ever since.
They talked about how Hope had first visited. How Hope and Jason got along and learned to play instruments and sing. They made a band and for the past few years have been doing well. Their second album had just been released and they had a show to do tomorrow night.
The cool thing was, Riv signed the rights to his and her mother’s old band over to Hope and Jason. From there the excitement grew and they thrived as a band and Hope’s and Jason’s relationship bloomed.
They finished the meal, cleaned up, and stayed up until they were too tired, then went to sleep.
They awoke the next day, dressed, and left the apartment to get ready for the show.
Soon, the band would be on stage ready to perform. When they got there everything was set up and ready to go.
Hope, Jason, Dave, and Mike dressed in their costumes and did up their make-up. Jason, Dave, And Mike wore all black leather outfits that looked armoured, with hoods. Their faces were painted up like skulls. They were the Reapers of Fate.
Hope dressed in the old outfit her mother wore on stage. All white leather with plated like armour look. She wore a white long-haired wig. Her face was all white put with a black lightning bolt over one eye and a black heart in the center of her lips.
They were ready! On the stage they went.
Jason strummed his guitar and the crowd cheered.
Mike gave his bass a slap then strummed a cord. Again, the crowd cheered.
Dave gave a pounding on the drums and the fans continued to cheer.
Hope came onto the stage with a microphone. She gave a quick head bang and flipped her hair about. She raised her hand in the air to form the horns. The fans hooted and hollered. They chanted! They were primed and ready to party it up. They wanted more and the show had not even started yet.
“Are you ready to Rock out, Children of Fate?” Hope yelled out.
The crowed responded with cheers and went crazy.
“We are September Mourning!”
(01/12/21)
Hope’s Love
Every road leads back to you.
Contemplate the lives we knew.
What are we so desperate for?
Broken trust by truth unsaid.
Reveal the pain in tears we shed.
What are we so desperate for?
-September Mourning,
Love Is War (Romanticide)
The concert hall was sold out tonight. Hope sang her heart out to the people. Jason rocked out on the guitar and put his all into it. The other band members just gave everything they had. Everyone was right into their music. They always put their heart and soul into the music.
The fans were going wild. Cheered non-stop, which enticed the band to play harder. The music and the crowd drove the band on. It was the one thing that had brought them all together. The one thing they loved most.
The energy from the crowd empowered Hope and the rest of the band members. The heavy rifts grew stronger in depth. A real head bangers ball. These days were hard times, and people needed an outlet.
Hope, Jason, and the rest of the band were here this night to provide it. Everyone had been enjoying themselves. Moshing out in the pit. The fans sung along with the music, even.
Everything had been great until they came. The attack was sudden and brutal. It seemed every part of the city had been hit. Pandemonium broke out. So many people were hurt and trampled in the confusion. Many were slaughtered outright.
These so called ‘Soldiers of Mercy’ wore all black trench coats that were most likely made of Kevlar. Bio masks covered their faces and their identities. They carried automatic weapons with a sidearm and knife blade. They were highly trained fighters. They even knew how to kill fae as Hope witnessed one being slain. First the wings were cut off so they could not escape easily and then the throat cut and then a bullet to the head. This spoke volumes about seeking out Hope’s kind. They showed no mercy whatsoever! It was a selection process, where men of all ages were killed regardless of age groups, race, or creed.
As for the women, the old perished. Children were taken for some future suspected breeding program. Other women, Hope cringed at what was happening to them. In times of war, there were such brutalities that survivors wished they had not.
Hope and Jason ran throughout the chaotic streets of L.A. As for the other band members, they had been lost in the commotion. Hopefully, they made it out of the chaos and home to their families to escape this insanity.
They themselves were trying to get home to Jason’s parents.
Please be alright, Hope thought.
When they arrived at the building they lived in, the soldiers had already been there. There was this feeling of dread deep in the pit of Hope’s stomach. She knew her boyfriend Jason felt the same way.
It proved true, as they walked into the apartment that was destroyed and ransacked.
Jason’s parents, Riv and Raya were dead, lying on the floor in pools of their own blood.
No mercy had been shown them. Bullets to the head. They were side by side, empty wide eyes that looked at each other but saw nothing of one another.
Jason cried out. He went to his knees and sobbed. His worst fear realized. He stared on in disbelief.
Hope went to her knees with him and held him for dear life. Her tears trailed down her cheeks like raindrops. She shook her head in the same disbelief, wiped away her tears.
They could not stay here any longer. The soldiers could return. Besides, they had to leave and find his sister, Sara.
“We must leave, Jason! Find Sara and get out of the city,” Hope said sternly, but hurried. He nodded stunned.
There was a sound by the doorway. They looked.
“Mama! Papa! No!” A voice choked out.
It was Sara. She had somehow made it here. The couple went over and held her. They cried together for a time. But urgency to survive took over and they left the flat and were once again out in the streets.
The city was burning. There was looting and violence everywhere. People were turning on each other. Panic spread out and became an infection. It was a plague that drove people mad in grief and fear. Bodies were left to lie there and rot. There was so much destruction.
Hope led the way. She was going to take them to a safe place. She was taking them home.
Her home.
It took some time, but they made it out of the city and were somewhat safer in the mountains. They followed a trail that led deeper into the woods. Hope then led them off the trail and deeper into the forest. She assured them she knew where to go.
There were other dangers to worry about when traveling to her home.
Sudden there were soldiers that came into view.
“Well, what do we have here?” One of the soldiers mocked.
There were five of them. Armed.
“Kill him and we can have fun with the girls,” another soldier spoke up.
“Never!” Hope suddenly yelled. Her eyes glowed and energy lashed out and tore through the soldiers. Her abrupt anger had ripped them all to pieces in seconds. Not a single shot was fired. The soldiers did not even have time to scream, the events happened so fast.
Hope stood there in shock at what she had allowed herself to do.
“What have I done?” Hope uttered to herself.
“You did what had to be done,” Jason said and spat in the direction of the dead bodies.
“Jason’s right Hope. They would have done far worse to us,” Sara said without remorse. Hope shivered as if chilled.
After all was said and done, Jason and Sara gathered weapons and ammo. Now, was as good a time to learn how to use them.
Hope declined the offer of a weapon. She may have been trained to use a bow and arrow, along with sword and dagger yet, she still detested them.
So, they moved on deeper into the forested mountains.
They travelled for days mostly hungry. They slept huddled together in the dirt and rocky terrain. There was little sleep to be had, but they were alive and free.
They were tired. It was an experience to eat nuts and berries out in the bush. Or to hunt and trap a rabbit for food. Good for her human family she had knowledge of such things. Jason and Nia had no clue how to survive out in the wild. This is what happens when city kids never get to go camping when they were young.
Soon, they crossed over the border into Canada. Not much longer until the grove was reached, her home.
Hope suddenly stopped in her tracks. Jason and Sara readied their weapons. Hope relaxed.
Her mother appeared from out behind a tree. Hope ran into the outstretched arms of the pixie faerie.
They held each other for such an exceptionally long time.
“Welcome home my children,” September said relieved.
Hope was with all the people that she loved so much. (01/26/21)
September’s Children
Calling lost angels to save the world.
Cause there’s nothing more powerful,
than a pretty girl calling lost angels,
to join as one.
Cause it’s gonna take a miracle,
to get the job done.
-September Mourning,
Lost Angels
They were safe here in the grove. For now, anyway. September was saddened when she had to tell her children that they would have to leave the grove to find a new home.
Soon!
There was a place to be at. They must leave quickly. It had to be done.
It would be hardest on her daughter Hope. She loves her home and had sworn that she would never leave again. Time to break that vow.
Where had the years gone? They seemed to fly by so quickly.
Hope had married that handsome human man, Jason and had two children. A boy and a girl. The boy had been named after Jason’s father Riv. September liked that very much. She had been saddened by the fate of his family. She missed him dearly.
Then there was little Nomee. September just adored her granddaughter to no end.
Jason’s sister Sara had married a fae. A young lord. A powerful warrior and wise ruler of his clan. They had three children. All girls and were greatly loved by all.
To think it had only been eight years since Hope’s return. The joy September felt. Her happiness was complete. Even, though the love of her life was not with them to share it.
The Pixie Queen. This was the title bestowed upon September. She scarcely remembers how she had become queen of the Sidhe. The faerie folk even made her a crown to make it official. She was truly honoured by the gesture but felt less deserving.
Her crown was made of yew and pine needles. It had three water crystals set in that glowed like dewdrops.
September walked through the grove and greeted her people. Fae, Human, and Faerie alike. They were all children of the Earth.
At this particular time, she felt that too much sacrifice had already been asked of these people. As of late it was asked that they leave their homes to travel elsewhere. To make a new home. Start a new life. They agreed. They trusted her judgement.
There were dangers ahead of them, as there always were. This change was necessary for the betterment of the world to all.
The Soldiers of Mercy, now called the scourge. A fitting title for an army of savages. They were now in Canada. This army continued to ravage the world. They have destroyed billions of lives. It was time to put an end to this madness. This was the last attempt.
A dark fae named Tyr followed his queen wherever she had gone. He was her shadow and protector.
His loyalty could not be put into question whatsoever. He was a warrior who could not be outmatched by anyone. He would gladly give up his own life for the Pixie Queen.
He loved September, not in a romantic way, more like a knight who loved his king or queen and the kingdom that was represented.
September was not even sure if Tyr slept or not. Not that it mattered. She had gotten used to his constant presence.
September went to a secluded part of the grove to be alone. Tyr respected these private moments she would steal for herself. As the Pixie Queen, she was grateful to him for keeping his distance and privacy.
Silver tears began to stream down her pale moon cheeks. Three teardrops crystalized in her palms. These she would give to her daughter when the time was right. They would be needed at some point in the future.
September wiped away her tears and straightened her gossamer gown. It was time to be with her family before they started this journey to their new home. She said a brief prayer to the grove. She said her goodbyes. She knew deep down in her heart that what she was about to do was the best thing for all of the children. (01/26/21)
September’s Fate
Let’s fight.
Let’s bring them down.
Sink ships until they drown.
Burn castles take their crowns.
Our time is now.
-September Mourning,
Seal Your Fate
They had travelled from the Rookie Mountains out onto the rolling hilled plains that made up the edge of the Prairies.
It would not be long now before the group was spotted in the distance. They may make it to their destination before anyone noticed. Unlikely.
What was worrisome to September was that she hoped that the scourge army would not have any information that her people were traveling out here in the open. Let that knowledge reach them when it was too late. For what must be planned. September needed her full concentration, especially for what had to be done.
She was about to perform extremely powerful magic. The likes that may not have been seen before.
Great change would be coming to the world and September shall be its cause. There was no other way.
With the scourge army burning a swath of violence throughout the world there may not be anything left. They had to be stopped at all costs. The planet would surely be doomed.
Today they would march all day and arrive at their new home by nightfall.
Tomorrow morning it must begin. It could not be any later.
Everyone had a part to play. It was all planned out. Only September knew the entirety of it all.
So, out marched fae alongside human alongside faerie, together. Proof, that any race or creed could live together in harmony.
During their travels, more people joined the ranks, and the numbers grew. By the time the destination was reached, there were thousands of people. They were an army of their own now.
The encampment was set up. Tents and campfires were made. The fairy folk used magic to shape the grassy plains to make huts for those to sleep in. The humans slept. They needed it mostly nightly. Fae only needed sleep every few days and only for a short period of time. The Sidhe – faeries rarely slept at all. Only during time of extreme exhaustion did they need any.
September walked amongst her people. She conversed with them and saw to their needs. Made sure everyone had food and water. Especially the children. She greeted everyone encountered.
Her shadow of a bodyguard followed, never too far behind. Tyr, the dark fae, forever her protector. Where the Pixie Queen went, he was near.
It was almost dawn when September had gone to see her daughter and grandchildren. The encampment was in the process of waking. Hope was awake as were the children.
September hugged and kissed the little ones. She was so proud of them. Such well-behaved children. September then embraced her daughter, Hope for what seemed like an exceptionally long time. When she released her daughter, three teardrop crystals were presented to Hope. They were incredible.
“Keep these with you at all times. They are a powerful magic and shall protect you and your family. Be brave my daughter. No matter what happens, stay with the children,” she looked sternly at her daughter. Hope nodded.
“Yes, Mother,” Hope choked out her emotion.
“Know that I will always love you my dear child. I have always been so proud of you. My reason for being,” September’s emotions almost got the better of her.
“Come! It is almost time, and we must do the final preparations,” she reminded her daughter gently. Hope held her mother’s hand as they walked by the enormous boulder that was in the middle of the encampment.
At one time many people used to meet here at ‘Big Rock’. It was once a tourist attraction. Now however, fae, human, and faerie used magic to piece it back together. It was whole once more. It was lifted into the air. All watched as it floated so high above. This would be the focal point.
September smiled and kissed her daughter’s cheek.
“It is time. Finally, it shall be over. The world will be reborn, anew,” the Pixie Queen said kindly, calmly. She removed her crown and placed it on Hope’s head. Hope was speechless.
Iridescent wings of light sprouted forth from the Pixie Queen’s back. Up she went. Her wings fluttered with ease and grace. In a few moments she stood upon Big Rock. The huge boulder rose higher into the sky.
Everything could be seen for many miles from this vantage point.
There! In the distance. The scourge army headed in their direction.
The Pixie Queen connected with her daughter. Their linked as one. She warned of the coming army. Then the connection was broken. Hope relayed the information on to the others. Positions were taken.
The fae general who led the army just so happened to be the young lord that Jason’s sister Sara was married to.
Hope, Jason, and Nia stayed with the children. This was the final battle for the future. For the children. No matter the outcome this day, it all ends!
The Pixie Queen’s forces were ready and able. They would give their lives for the queen. She knew this without a doubt.
She did not want their sacrifice. Only the time needed to complete and amass the magic energies to perform the spell. Her people had sacrificed too much already. They would give up nothing more. The queen would see to it.
The scourge army made the attack and as predicted; they went after September atop of the giant rock first.
They were in for a surprise. Weapons from tanks and planes fired. They hit an invisible barrier. Their weapons had no effect. It blocked anything from ever getting in. As for the planes that moved incredibly fast, they smashed into the barrier and that made the air support the enemy had, nullified. They rained down in fireballs of death.
Roots burst out of the ground and wrapped around the tanks and other machines. They bound and squeezed tightly, crushing them like tin cans. The enemy kept coming like locusts. They swarmed without end. There was far more of them than the fae.
As long as the magic held, there was no way to break through the barrier that was set.
The Pixie Queen’s army used arrows and the humans used the firearms. Magic was hurtled from the ones that who did not support the energy shielding.
In such a short while thousands had already died. But this was far from over.
September was amassing a huge amount of energy. It crackled all around her and through her. Her silvery blue eyes glowed and flashed the sparkling power. Her pale moon body shimmered like moonlight as tiny leaping lightning bolts scattered all over her. Her platinum hair writhed like a living angry being. She was becoming pure power.
Something was suddenly wrong. She could not collect enough energy. She was beginning to tire.
No! I must not fail! September’s thoughts became that of despair.
He was there.
Tyr.
Her shadow.
Her protector.
He offered his hand to her. September shook her head.
“I make this sacrifice of my own free will, my Queen,” he said calmly. His dark eyes penetrating.
He knows, she thought. He knows what will happen to him and he is still willing to do this.
He offered his hand again and begged. He was not the sort to ever beg either.
September’s tears came unbidden. She knew that she had to succeed and so did he.
“Thank You!” September gave her gratitude. Tyr nodded.
“I have always been yours to command, my Queen,” he said faithfully and smiled brightly. This had been the only time she had seen a smile upon his face. It was glorious.
She took his hand in hers. Power flooded into her unlike anything that has been known. At first thought, there would be no end to it like a bottomless well.
Then Tyr began to slowly fade away. She knew him like no other has in these few moments.
Please don’t let his sacrifice be forgotten.
Tears continued to stream down her cheeks.
September knew him. His endarkened heart. His endarkened soul. They were filled with… love.
As he faded into the nether, September had felt something else… Peace.
It was near!
Right then and there September turned into pure magical energy. It must be unleashed soon. There was not much time left.
She made the connection with her daughter once again for the last time.
Hope felt her mother’s presence right away. At first, she was relieved and comforted.
“My daughter. How I love you,” September’s voice sounded hollow in her head, but soothing.
“Hope. Always keep love in your heart. Never forget all the time we have shared. Be happy. For me!” There was a pause.
Hope’s worse fear had come to pass. This was really happening, and she did not want to accept it.
No!
“Mommy, don’t go, please stay. I love you mommy,” Hope screamed out. Tears welled up and overflowed.
“You can’t leave us, please,” Hope begged.
“Goodbye, my daughter. My Hope for the future. I love you always!” Those were September’s last words.
The magical barriers were weakening. Dark fae stepped in place of the wielders of the barrier. They assisted with their dark magic. The barriers changed to that of a destructive force. It was unleashed. It lashed out across the Prairies. It devoured and sliced its way into the enemy swarm. Still, it was not enough to stop them. They continued to attack and collided with the Pixie Queen’s forces.
At first, they held firm against the swarming army, killing many. Then the tide began to slowly turn. Their forces were too overwhelming in sheer numbers.
Too many people were dying. This had to stop. The Pixie Queen’s forces were by far better skilled warriors. Far more powerful in the use of magic. They just did not have the numbers and their strength was waning.
September roared her fury. She burst into a force of such magnitude that the very Earth itself trembled.
Her very being went in two different directions.
Up into the clouds and became a part of the ley lines that spiderwebbed around the world. The magical energy covered the whole of the planet.
Then down, splitting Big Rock into many shards that hit the ground. They glowed with power in a perfect circle. The magical energy hit the earth with such a force that the Earth’s axis tilted. There was a huge thunderous boom. The shock wave ripped through the Scourge all over the world and disintegrated them. All of them.
Then it happened. Something began to form out of the ground and followed the pillar of energy.
A tree grew. It grew so high and so large that it may never end. It rose higher than any building ever built. The trunk was so huge that it was over five-hundred diameters wide.
Growth and life happened everywhere. The Prairies disappeared before everyone’s eyes for miles. Most of Alberta would be the new forested home for the Pixie Queen’s people.
It was an awe-inspiring event say the least. A new home was here at last. A new world was giving birth. This would be a time to rejoice and to mourn.
Hope’s tears were of sadness and of joy. She would miss her mother terribly. Always remember her.
It was finally over. The world would know peace at last.
Fae, Human, and Faerie alike bowed before Hope. The new Queen had been chosen.
September had her Fate. Now this was Hope’s Fate. (01/26/21)
Mourning of September
“Something broken, something beautiful.”
-Emily Lazar
(01/27/21)
Those who mourn the Pixie Queen;
Dewdrop tears sadden these eyes.
A prayer sent to the Heavens.
and the Earth;
The day of Destiny was already at hand.
O’ September, mother of Hope;
Your daughter is the new Pixie Queen.
Peace reigns these lands again;
We welcome the bliss you have bestowed.
O’ September, queen of the Fae;
You made the greatest sacrifice that day.
Now, stands the tallest of trees;
Nature has a new decree.
O’ September, savoir of Humanity;
How they will always praise thee.
There is unity of race and creed;
Happiness in the hearts of all, indeed.
O’ September, the Faerie queen of dreams;
Only your magic saved the world.
We all sleep at restful ease;
Our wings forever glow into eternity.
We miss our Pixie Queen;
She who is the Divine belief.
We shall never forget September;
She who lives on in our memory.
That is the end of September's Garden. Thanks for reading.
