Strange things are happening in the cemetery.

The Mausoleum

Jason was new to the school but had quickly made friends with Ian. What Ian found puzzling was that he always seemed to have a silvery sheen of what looked like sweat on his face.
“Why do you always have that silvery sheen on your face?” Ian had asked.
“Just sweat.” Jason had replied.
They had become good friends quickly and then one night Jason had said there was something he wanted to show him.
“Why the hell have you dragged to this cemetery this late at night?” Asked Ian.
“There’s something I want to show you.” Replied Jason.
The moon looked on them forlornly on this Autumnal night and Ian thought he heard an owl hooted somewhere in the distance.
“Look there he is!” Said Jason.
“Who?”
“The Cemetery caretaker, Shhs! Don’t make a sound and duck or he will see us.” Whispered Jason.
Ian suddenly felt a knot of fear in his stomach. The old cemetery caretaker had an old lamp in one hand and a large jug in the other.
“Why is he carrying that large jug with him?”
“You will find out soon.”
“Well what do we do now?”
“We follow him,” whispered Jason.
They followed at some distance. They saw the silhouette of the old caretaker pull out a large key and unlock the rusted iron gates to the mausoleum. He entered and they followed. Soon they were descending down some steps.
Eventually they stopped at the bottom of the steps.
There was an old wooden coffin.
“Master,” The caretakers voice carried over to their keen ears in the silence of the night, gravelly and old.
The coffin was opened from inside by an old gnarled hand.
“Master, here is the blood of the two people that died yesterday.”
A vampire! Thought Ian.
“It is not enough!” The vampire spoke in a voice aged by centuries, “I need more.”
“Master, this is a small town, not many people die here each day.”
“I need more, see to it that I get more or it will be the end of you!”
“Yes master, I will bring you more.”
Jason and Ian slipped away back into the darkness of the cemetery.
“A vampire!” Said Ian in disbelief, “What do we do?”
“I don’t know.”
“I know,” said Ian “We will ask MR Breston, tomorrow at school. He’s smart he will know what to do.”
The next day, at the end of MR Breston’s lesson, Ian approached him sheepishly.
“MR Breston, there is something I need to ask you?”
“Yes, what is it Ian?”
“Well sir...What would you do if you found a real vampire?”
“Well, A real vampire you say, I don’t think such things exist but if I found one I would probably kill it.”
“Thank you MR Breston.”
Later Ian and Jason spoke about what MR Breston had said.
“He said he would kill it, I knew he would know what to do, he’s clever.”
That night the two of them were in the grave yard again. Ian had had made a stake in the wood work class and had stolen a hammer from his dads garage.
They waited in the darkness. Soon they saw the cemetery caretaker, heading towards the mausoleum with a jug in his hand. They watched as he pulled out a large key from his pocket and entered the mausoleum.
They followed the care taker to the bottom of the steps.
“This town can’t feed the two of us.”
“What?” asked Ian.
“Nothing just talking to myself.” Replied Jason.
They saw the old caretaker standing next to the old coffin, waiting for his master to awake.
“I will distract the old man and you stake the vampire.” Whispered Jason.
Just then Jason rushed from their hiding place and pushed over the feeble old man. Then Ian was at the coffins side, he pulled up the coffin lid, put the stake in place and slammed down on the stake with the hammer.
The sleeping vampire gave a loud mournful moan and disappeared in a flash of dust.
“We did it!” cried Ian.
“Yes we did.” Replied Jason.
Just then the old man managed to get himself back up from his fall.
“Master?” The old caretaker asked.
“Yes, Lionel?”
“What? He called you master?”
“Yes, you asked what that sheen on my face was when we first met, now I will tell you, its sun block.”
“What?” Asked Ian turning white as a sheet.
“This town isn’t big enough to feed the two of us, and I promised my maker that I would never harm him, that’s why I needed you.”
“Now I can feed to my heart’s content.” Said Jason revealing large vampire fangs and moving towards Ian.
“And I am going to start with you!”
“No...No!” Screamed Ian turning as white as winter morning snow.
