Trust Issues
Owen’s severe trust issues had kept him from having a life. He’d done that by choice after all. The worst of people had been done to him. Far too often
Owen had been openly Transgender for the last six months. His father’s death, along with a confrontational argument with relatives left him isolated. Far more than ever before. They’d let their actions speak for them. He’d called them out on everything. They’d continually made excuses. Excuses he’d called out. He’d let his unfiltered thoughts out before going no contact with them. He’d told the truth when people asked him about them. People who were left speechless and appalled by what they’d done. People who knew his mother would’ve disowned all of them after having some choice words if she were alive.
He had nothing but bad experiences, romantically and otherwise, since coming out as Trans. He had been somewhat open already. He hadn’t felt safe enough to do so. He’d known, and fully accepted, that there’d be no good time to come out. He’d waited until Charlie died before fully coming out. He hadn’t cared what others thought, or said, for a long time before coming out. People had let their actions speak for them. He’d begun doing the same. He’d kept to himself far more. He’d not gone to anything the local LGBTQ+ group had. He saw no need to.
He’d moved to Ft. Lauderdale after the lease ended. He’d saved enough money, along with what he’d gotten after selling the car, to help him in the first few months after moving. He’d found a job as a Dishwasher in the first week after arriving. He lived in a hotel room that first month. He’d left with one suitcase, a duffel bag, and book bag filled with everything he’d wanted to keep. Everything else was donated, thrown away or sold. He had no interest in accumulating anything anymore. He’d found himself once again while walking along Ft. Lauderdale beach.
Frankie had been openly Gay most of his life. He’d become confident in his currentl life. He had been watching Owen. From a distance of course. He’d seen how sad Owen looked. So he walked up to him and asked if he was okay. They sat on the wall, watching the sun rise, talking. They’d talked about where they were currently at in their lives. They compared it to where they’d once been. Frankie didn’t know what to think about everything that’d happened to Owen. He wanted nothing more than to keep making sure Owen was okay. So he did just that.
The pair began spending more time with each other. Owen had been slowly falling in love with Frankie. He’d seen something good in him. He wasn’t sure what that was though. A person that accepted him for who he is being one of them. He wasn’t sure how to feel about whatever was going on between them. He knew he wanted to keep Frankie in his life at all costs. Frankie had taken him on adventures to Miami Beach. To meet friends that way. He’d taken him to LGBTQ+ parties as well. To meet and befriend people there.
They’d confessed their love for each other six months later. They’d confessed everything. They’d kept their relationship silent for a while. They wanted to see where things went before making it public. There were conversations that needed to happen as well. Both knew some of them would be difficult ones. Ones that ended up not being as difficult as they’d thought. Both wanted similar things. Similar enough that they were basically the same things. They’d fallen deeper in love with each other as a result. They’d made it public after a year of silently dating. To the surprise of nobody.
That is the end of Trust Issues. Thanks for reading.
