An Encounter
A bump and they meet, is it to be love or a faded passing of souls...
What kind of man do you want?
This question alone haunts Annabeth Setten most of her life until him... A cold night where she tightens her long coat around herself, even though it's a perfect fit over her silk dress she wore at one of the many fundraisers she attends. Her cheeks are flush pink as the cold sets upon her face as
Harrian Walters is walking past her.
He too had been at the fund raiser but unlike Annabeth, he wasn't looking for love or for a spark until the moment a patch of ice on the side walk, clear and un-noticed by them both has them slipping into a fall, crashing into one another like lightning as a light fall of snow surrounds them.
"Ms. Setten." An employee of hers asks as she raises her hand, waving them off as her soft blue eyes are captivated by the green eyes of Harrian. His stature is at least six foot compared to her five foot five inches and yet his demeanor shows a lack of dominance for his broad shoulders and sculpted face. His shaved head showing an even more dominate feature as he repositions his toque, yet his eyes look vulnerable in the dim light from an old book shop on this corner.
"Ms. Setten." He whispers, clearing his throat as she simply gawks at him. "Yes." She answers as his cheeks flare up red, not from the cold but from this beautiful woman. He remembers her, she spoke at the fundraiser and he wondered about the kind of man who could keep a woman like her. Her golden curls and emotion filled blue eyes are captivating to her pale skin and softly created features. Once more he couldn't help the slight desire as her silk dress showed every curve and even her nipples were on display, though the respect she seems to of earned had only him and few other daring men to notice.
She has the beauty of a goddess and he wondered if her heart is just as pure, though he tried to file that thought away. He isn't looking for love, or at least he lies to himself as he feels his heart flutter as she takes in every inch of him. "Your name?" She asks as his eyes look into hers shakily. "Harrian."
"Harrian." She says with a subtle smile before she picks herself up, dusting off as she looks down at a man that's captured her full attention. "Harrian, are you okay?" She extends her hand and Harrian feels this exchange to be opposite of how it should be, never the less he takes her hand and isn't sure as he puts his weight on her as he stands but she does not move or waver.
Annabeth looks him over and dusts off some of the snow on his back as he feels her touch and holds his breath. Everyone is walking by them but all they see is one another. "You may want to dust off your butt, it's not appropriate for I..." She says as a bashful Harrian does so quickly before Annabeth takes a leap of faith.
"I'd like to ask, would you be so kind as to go on a date with me?" "I will take no offense if you aren't interested so be free with your next words." Harrian halts his movements as he looks up at her.
Her strawberry scented hair is sweet as a cold wind wraps around them. He knew this wouldn't end well, not with his responsibilities but when you're given your first chance to make an actual choice in life, you take it.
"Yes, I'd appreciate a date with you." He says, not sure about his words as he internally groans if he fumbles such a beautiful woman. "Your phone." She says and his hand is instantly in his pocket, holding out his phone. She puts in her number before calling herself and hands his phone back to him.
"I'll see you around Mr. Datton." She says before taking her silk scarf that"# started to bellow and flips it over her shoulder before walking away from him. His woodsy cologne enters her senses, engrained with in her as she shivers with a smile before reaching her car and driving home.
That is the end of An Encounter. Thanks for reading.
