Baba Yaga

Adventure Mystery Paranormal
4 min read

Her story was finally being told.

She’d been a myth for centuries. There were variations to her story. The legend of her existence had been forgotten by most in society. Emery knew better. Her…. Obsession with myths and legends was often the first thing people remembered about her. It didn’t bother her at all. She paid no attention to people most of the time. She was busy living her life as a Mythologist as she’d called it. She’d become well versed in myths, their variations, and how they were interconnected with others around the world in some way. It had led her down a rabbit hole.

Emery knew Baba Yaga’s origins lay deep within the Appalachian Mountains. Somewhere where she’d never be found. Emery knew something must’ve happened for Baba Yaga to go so deep into the Mountains. Something Humanity had likely done to lead her so deep into Appalachia. She knew there was a high chance the sounds people heard was Baba Yaga in some way. To protect herself from people coming too close to her home. Roux was determined to find her. To prove she existed. To talk to her. Hopefully. She wasn’t sure she was ready for that journey into the Appalachian Mountains.

“I’ll find her. You’ll see. I know people don’t believe me. I look at things differently. I can’t explain any of it. I just know she’s there. Somewhere” Emery smiled
”Be sure to document it. Not like I have to say anything” Roux replied
”You know I will. It’s me we’re talking about. OF COURSE I’ll document it” Emery sighed
”Hopefully you come back. Alive” Roux retorted
”I will. You know I will. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone. I just know I’ll find her, talk to her, and figure out all the legends and myths” Emery answered

Emery had gotten lost during her journey. She’d been prepared for that. She knew she’d likely get lost. She was going off all the stories she knew. There were different ways to get to Baba Yaga. Like anything else. She’d heard the noises. Felt the difference in the atmosphere. She’d known she may very well be getting closer. The sounds kept getting creepier. Emery paid no attention to them. They were meant to deter her. To drive her out. Emery kept going anyway. She’d thought she’d seen something in the distance. Something that was resembling something related to Baba Yaga.

”Thank you for finding me. For giving me hope. I don’t know if I’ll keep doing what I’ve been to protect myself. I do know I have hope for the world now” Baba Yaga said
”You’re welcome. You’ve renewed my own faith. My own hope in the world. I am not often believed. This proves otherwise” Emery replied
”That’s all one can do in life. Live life happily. In whatever way that looks like” Baba smiled
”You’re very right. That’s what matters most at the end of the day. Things I’ll be doing when I’m back home” Emery smiled back

Emery finding her was an accomplishment in Roux’s eyes. She told Baba Yaga everything. Emery told her she accepted her for who she is. That she was going to do so until her death. Baba Yaga didn’t know what to feel at first. Emery had befriended her over the next week. Emery knew she’d be declared missing. Possibly deceased. It was a risk she was willing to take. She understood why Baba Yaga had gone so deep into the Mountains. The peacefulness. The quiet. Not having to worry about anyone else but herself. Being able to live her life happily.

Baba Yaga had decided to stay where she was. She had no interest in interacting with the people in modern times. Emery understood that. She just wanted to meet her. She wanted to let Baba Yaga know there were people out there that believed in her. People who believed in the life she had. In the work she’d done. Emery left knowing she’d have her own story to tell. She knew she’d be disproving the myths out there. It was something she also knew people may not believe. She didn’t care either way. She’d found and talked to Baba Yaga.

That is the end of Baba Yaga. Thanks for reading.
