Beachside
His traumatic past took its toll on him. He’d finally come to terms with it during his daily reflections by the beach at sunrise.
Julian hadn’t really known what he was going to do during his last full day in Miami Beach. He was still deciding as he watched the sun rise. He knew he was going to go back to the Hotel to sleep for a few hours before having to check out. He’d already packed everything that needed to be packed. The only thing left to do was take a shower after getting back, packing the rest of his things up, sleeping for the few hours he could and checking out. He didn’t need to meet his Adam until later in the day. He had plenty of time to be where he needed to go.
He reflected on the last two weeks. He’d fallen in love with Miami Beach far more than before. He reminisced on the brief time he’d spent in South Florida. Adam had met a woman he’d nearly married. Until she said it was just a paper they didn’t need. It didn’t change the fact he moved himself and Julian to South Florida either way. A decision Julian was against from the start. He’d made it known he’d not been told anything until the year before the move. That he didn’t have a say in the decision either. Everyone was appalled that Adam had done that to Julian. Many distanced themselves from Adam after that. Others had. told him off. That Maggie would’ve been ashamed of him.
Five years had passed before they moved back to the area Julian had grown up in. It was something Julian had said would eventually happen. He’d told Adam several times while they were putting the few boxes of Julian's things into the car. He let there be silence the entire ride home. All four hours. Julian had been living with his Uncle the entire time. There was no way Sawyer was going to let him live with Quinn. Even he knew what was going to happen. She hadn’t accepted the fact that Julian would never drive because of his Epilepsy. It wasn’t an option for him. Or safe to do. It took him having a seizure and her being the only one to pick him up from the hospital to understand. She didn’t say a word about it after that. He proved he could get around by public transit just fine.
He’d made the decision to move back to Miami Beach. He’d saved more than enough money to be able to move down. He’d planned everything out already. Adam didn’t think it was a good idea. Julian didn’t care. He was going to do it anyway. He’d found peace in the two weeks he’d been there. Adam had come down to visit Ellie, his mother (Julian’s grandmother) one last time. Her health was declining. Rapidly. Julian met him at her condo to say his goodbyes as well. One of the hardest things he’d ever had to do. They were going back three weeks later to bury her. He’d left the condo and went to the Hotel he’d be staying at for the foreseeable future.
Julian let his actions speak for him after that. That actions have consequences. Adam had to sit with the consequences of his actions. He’d been working in Marketing for the last six months. He was far happier than he’d ever been. He’d go to the beach every morning. His daily reflection as he’d come to call it. To use Insight Therapy to move through the traumatic past he’d experienced. He’d found the peace he’d been looking for during these morning reflections. He was content with the life he now had.
That is the end of Beachside. Thanks for reading.
