Cyclical

Rooney had been going deeper into the Depression he’d been letting himself wallow in. It went far deeper than anyone thought. Or would ever know. He’d wanted nothing more than to just die already. That’d been his mindset for the last few years. His mundane life wasn’t much. His job as a Dishwasher left him with enough money to pay the few bills he had and nothing more. He’d been living with his dad Ben in a rural town that never once loved him. There wasn’t anything for him there. He was unable to leave because of his extreme hardship. He wasn’t even able to get the healthcare he needed for his health issues. Doctors weren’t willing to help him. It left him with no healthcare. It left him with health issues that led to frequent hospitalizations. He nearly lost his job several times because of how many times he’d been hospitalized. Ben had been secretly saving to help Rooney get out in the event he lost his job. He’d kept telling Rooney he had the money to pay for the Doctor visits along with any testing needed. Rooney told him whatever amount he had wasn’t going to be enough. He’d broken it down for Ben leaving him speechless knowing Rooney was right. 

Emergency surgery to have his Gallbladder removed had been the last straw. Jackson let him go days after he came back to work citing Rooney was no longer able to do the job. The legal way around discrimination that Rooney couldn’t challenge. He knew there was no way to prove it was Discrimination. It led to his suicide attempt. Everyone that knew Rooney stopped going to the Restaurant as a result. Everyone even publicly shamed Jackson for doing what he did. It led to Jackson trying to get Rooney to come back. It was too late though. He was packing up to move to Atlanta. He didn’t want anything to do with Jackson or the Restaurant after what happened. He hoped it was going to help him heal. The Cyclical Depression kept making an appearance. He wasn’t going to let it dictate his life anymore. Ben, along with several of Rooney's friends, helped him move to Atlanta. An opportunity has come his way during a brief trip to Atlanta. An opportunity that everyone hoped would lift Rooney out of the darkness he’d been letting himself wallow in. 

He’d let his Marketing skills do the talking. He’d become a Columnist for one of the Newspapers as well. His story inspired everyone at the Newspaper. They let him have his own column about his life. His Cyclical Depression being the main topic of his Column for the foreseeable future. Everyone’s hope being to help others through their own darkness. To shed light on the pain that comes with Depression. He was proud of himself for writing everything he had. Articles that did far better than he thought. He was in a happier place than he’d ever been in his life.
