Different Perspective
I’ve had the life I’ve wanted for a while. Recent happenings in my life have made it better. It hasn’t felt real at times. I’ve been far happier than I’ve ever been before though.
I’d always seen the world differently. The Learning Disabilities I’d been diagnosed with in first grade left me struggling in some way most of the time. Math was the worst subject for me. I didn’t get past Algebra in School. I either barely passed or barely failed Math throughout college. I’d found my purpose in life through my Writing career. I’d managed to be a moderately successful Writer. My current life as a Freelance Proofreader was a life I loved having. I worked remotely. The few recent decisions I’d made were bad decisions. Misplaced trust in people that turned out to be highly Narcissistic. People I’d cut ties with.
I’d moved back home both times. With my head in a darker place than before after this last failed attempt at leaving the town I’d grown up in behind. It was a learning lesson for me though. It also left me with severe trust issues. It’d left me struggling far more than before. My Mental Health had led me down a road I hadn’t wanted to go down again. My work had suffered. I wasn’t so sure what to do with my life. I’d focused on my work again. The influx of money from doing so well helped me leave.
I’d left after an argument with dad. He’d said some things he shouldn’t have. He’d not been taking care of himself either. He didn’t seem too willing to listen to me either. He hadn’t listened to some of his Doctors either. I took the hands off approach after a while. You can’t help someone that doesn’t want it after all. He didn’t seem to want help. I’d left with enough money to get by for the first few months in Miami Beach. I’d told him things he needed to hear before I left. Things he didn’t want to hear. I’d shamed him for things he’d said. Mom would’ve shamed him. She’d have divorced him after comments he’d made. I’d let my actions speak for me as I left. I’d gone no contact with him and other relatives in that area as I left. People who’d not once loved me anyway.
I didn’t need a diagnosis to know I’m Autistic. I’d known for a while. Mom had met me where I was prior to her untimely death. I reminded myself of things she’d said along with things she’d taught me. My life has gotten better since I left. I was far happier than I’d ever been. I’d come out as Lesbian a few weeks after moving to Miami Beach. I was living my best life. I had an apartment on Alton Road that overlooked the water. I still didn’t know how I’d managed to get it. It didn’t feel real some days. I planned on staying for the rest of my life. My plans to travel the country were fast approaching. To New York being the first on my list. I considered moving there or to Colorado if I were to move somewhere else. Traveling around is the only thing on my list for the time being. Aside from working obviously. I just know my life is far better than it was.
