Haunted

Mystery Paranormal
3 min read

She’d been intrigued by the mansion. The clouds that followed her left her stuck in the mansion overnight. Until she’d found the passage that led to the truth behind the secrets

The mansion had lay abandoned for well over a hundred years. Many speculated for nearly three hundred. Nobody really knew. Everyone knew it was haunted by the secrets it held within its walls. It was a traditional Chateau with thirteen rooms and bathrooms. Nobody knew who built it. Nor what happened to anyone that had once lived there. Rumors had spread over the years. People tried investigating it before fleeing. People who’d been unable to talk about what they’d experienced. People who refused to speak about what they experienced. People far too traumatized to even consider talking about what happened.

Reagan’s interest in everything paranormal led her to the mansion. She knew it’d laid abandoned for at least three hundred years. She had her suspicions of what lay within its walls. She wasn’t sure she wanted to investigate after everything she’d heard. She didn’t have a choice after the rain began to fall. She’d seen the storm clouds coming. She’d hoped it would clear up in an hour. It felt cliche to her after a few hours. A storm came through while she was stuck in a haunted and  abandoned mansion. She figured she’d wander around until the storm passed. Like anyone else would in the books and movies she’d seen. Until the storm passed anyway. She wasn’t so sure she’d be able to handle it though.

She’d found a secret passage as she wandered around. She knew it may lead to a nearby Crypt or Mausoleum. A way to get to whatever was on the other side during unsavory weather. She was hesitant to find out where it led. Curiosity had gotten the best of her. She knew she may find answers on the other side of the tunnel. She found herself at the entrance of the Mausoleum five minutes later. The door locked behind her after it’d thumped shut. As if someone didn’t want her to leave it.

She hoped her flashlight had enough battery to last for however long she was in there. She hoped to find answers during her search. It felt like whatever shut the door on her knew there was something within the Mausoleum that needed to be found. A feeling of dread washed over her. A feeling of peace washed over her as well. She knew deep down that she’d find what she was looking for. She hoped she would find answers anyway.

Julian had found papers that told her everything. Of the family and others that lived there that had been wiped out by various illnesses that’d come through and eventually plagued the area. Everyone except those that’d fled to the Mausoleum when everyone else had fallen ill. The spirits revealed themselves as she read everything. Spirits that answered all her questions. Questions she had that weren’t answered by what she’d read. She’d brought more than enough paper with her to write their stories down. She’d known to bring more than enough paper to write anything and everything down. She’d written down stories instead. She’d carefully put everything into her backpack. She’d kept her promise the next day after the storm had passed. To share their story. To restore the mansion.
