Hayden’s life had been filled with burying people and health issues. She’d found her way in life after moving to New York. She was content with the life she made for herself.

Haydens life had been far from easy. She’d been disabled most of her life. She’d not been able to get the healthcare she’d been in desperate need of while in Florida. She hadn’t even been able to get Disability. Or any help to get her health issues dealt with. There wasn’t any help available in the small town she’d grown up and lived in. A place that didn’t seem too eager to help people like her anyway. She’d buried far more people than most she knew. She’d planned for her own death knowing she may never leave the town she’d been living in.

She’d left after Constantine was placed in an Assisted Living Facility. He’d lied and downplayed his health issues. He’d been diagnosed with Dementia after a hospital stay left the nurses puzzled. They realized he’d not been truthful about what he was experiencing. None of it added up. None of the Doctors were having it. They’d given him an ultimatum if he didn’t tell them everything he was experiencing. They’d not be able to accurately help and treat him otherwise. A Neurologist had diagnosed him after a long conversation with him. Hayden had refused to see him after he’d once again lied to the Doctors after they had confronted him. She’d packed everything up and donated everything she knew he’d never use and she’d not take with her. She washed and packed his things after Doctors told her they’d be moving him to an Assisted Living Facility. They’d cited the fact she’d be unable to take care of him because of her own health issues. It was the best option. That he didn’t have much of a choice anyway. He was going to need the level of care he’d get at an ALF because of Hayden not being able to give him that kind of care even if she was healthy.

She’d not tried applying for Disability even after she moved to New York City. She’d recovered enough to be able to work. She didn’t care that she was homeless. She’d sold the car and left with that money. It was enough for her to move. She’d found a job as a Barista near the abandoned building she’d been discreetly living in. She’d joined a gym so she’d be able to shower there. She’d moved into a tiny studio apartment near the Cafe a few months later. Her co-workers had found out she’d been living in a nearby abandoned building. They’d helped her get services that helped her get the apartment. They’d helped her get on her feet. She didn’t mind having a small space. It was all she really needed for the time being. The raise she got six months later came after she used her marketing skills to bring in more business. She’d become the Marketer for the Cafe.

She’d become a Public Speaker while working at the Cafe. To bring awareness to the injustices that plagued the healthcare system within the U.S. She shared her experiences that left people speechless. They were appalled that she’d been through what she’d been through. She pointed out just how much people had stuck their head in the sand when it came to the U.S. Healthcare system. That people like her suffered as a result. It was no secret healthcare was far from where it needed to be. It was her story that people listened to. People within the healthcare field began speaking out in their respective jobs over time. They began demanding change. They listened to patients and helped them. People who began fighting back and wanting a healthcare system that was going to actually help people rather than bankrupting them.
