Life in Colorado

Adventure Drama
3 min read

Shiloh had made a life for herself in Colorado after the fight with her dad. A life she was far happier living despite her Disabilities and other things she’d been through.

Shiloh had moved to Colorado after an argument with her dad left him homeless. She’d been denied Disability for the second time. She knew he’d have to go back to work. It’d been two years since she’d last worked. She knew it’d likely be difficult for her to find a job regardless of where she moved to. She didn’t care. She knew she’d find something. She moved to Colorado knowing she’d have more opportunities than in Florida. She’d wanted to leave Florida for a while. Jude had given her money as a final “courtesy” according to him. Shiloh didn’t care either way. She’d planned on using what little money she already had from odd jobs since she got denied Disability again. There weren’t many jobs for someone like her in her small town. Not many wanted to hire someone with as many issues as she had.

She’d shamed him before leaving. That her mother would’ve shamed him for his behavior. Shiloh knew Harper would’ve threatened divorce. Harper died of a Brain Aneurysm over twenty years prior. Shiloh’s seizures had begun a few months prior to Harper's death. Other health issues plagued Shiloh since then. Health issues that prevented her from being able to work as time went on. The Government didn’t see her as Disabled enough. Despite her health issues being obvious. Despite her health issues draining her of all energy to do much regardless of what she tried. Or what medication she took. She’d gone about everything far differently after finding what helped her function somewhat normally.

Shiloh had gotten a job as a Budtender at one of the many Dispensaries near the Hostel she was staying at. She’d applied for everything nearby. She’d been unsure if she’d find anything. The interview had gone far better than she’d thought. They’d hired her on the spot after they saw her helping a few people while she was waiting for Adam to interview her. That’d been all they needed to see to know she’d be a good fit with them. They even agreed to work around her Epilepsy and other health issues. Shiloh even mentioned she could be their spokesperson of sorts. That she’d smoke everything as time went on and would let people know what was better to use depending on what they were looking for. That she was better off using Marijuana for her health issues than pharmaceutical medication.

A year had passed since she’d taken that leap of faith and moved to Colorado. She’d become the official Spokesperson for the Dispensary. Her health issues had improved because of her Marijuana use. She’d been able to sleep better. Her seizures had stopped. She’d become a Public Speaker in the last six months. To help others see how much Marijuana helps people with Disabilities. To show people someone with Disabilities can live a life that works for them. She’d used her voice to help others. It hadn’t been something she’d seen herself doing until she’d been doing it for a while. She saw how much it helped everyone she met. She’d given hope to others with Disabilities as well as their caregivers. She’d given a different perspective for those that had no idea how hard life could be for someone with Disabilities. She’d let the harsh realities sink in.

That is the end of Life in Colorado. Thanks for reading.
