Malibu Bound

Hayden’s move to Malibu, California came after his dads death. His dad hadn’t been taking care of himself. He was showing signs of Dementia. Blair’s fine motor skills were getting worse as well. He struggled with opening condiment bottles. He hadn’t listened to Hayden. Or the Doctors. His death came days prior to having heart surgery to deal with several blockages. People had already begun noticing various things Blair was struggling with that worried them. The few people that saw him on a regular basis understood what Hayden was trying to say. Everyone else didn’t think Blair was as bad off as he was. Until they took the time to observe him for a little while. A few comments Blair left people wondering about his Neurological state. A few asked Hayden what was going on. The last few times they went to an event of some kind people saw what Hayden was trying to say. 

Hayden didn’t care he was essentially homeless. He had everything he needed for the time being. Everything else was in storage. A few friends had made the cross country trip from Florida to Malibu with Hayden. They were the few he’d kept in touch with after everyone else abandoned him. People hadn’t understood the circumstances surrounding Blairs death. They didn’t understand there wasn’t much he could’ve done by the time he found Blair. He was beyond medical care by the time he’d called 911. Medical Professionals reassured him he’d done everything right. It was the lack of medical care that failed Blair. He should’ve had the surgery to repair the blockages far sooner. He was waiting three weeks instead. Blair’s heart just wasn’t strong enough to last that long. It was revealed a blood clot was the cause of death. A blood clot that stemmed from the blockages the Cardiologist missed on the EKG’s that were done. 

He’d found a studio near the Cafe. He’d gotten the job as their Dishwasher by happenstance. Their day shift Dishwasher quit after a heated argument with one of the cooks. An argument that turned out to be pointless after looking back on it. It was too late though. Adam had already left. Hayden had been one of the patrons that watched the whole thing. He asked if he could take over. As a trial run. Shiloh was willing to do that. He showed Hayden what to do along with where everything was before letting him be to let him work. He hired Hayden on the spot after the Cafe closed for the day. He’d been using the money from selling the car Blair drove as well as his bank account. Hayden had paid off a few of Blairs debts as well as the funeral using his dads account. He was appreciative that the Realty company let him out of the lease without any financial consequences. They were willing to do so given the circumstances. Hayden never had any interest in driving. He was always with someone that drove, walked, or used public transportation. It saved money on car insurance, gas and car maintenance. He’d been far happier in the three months since moving to Malibu. He’d taken everything out of storage and moved it into the apartment.
