 The Ameriqas: Nature (Ep. 4)

EXT. OCCUPY CAMP IN THE COURTYARD IN BROOKLYN.
Andrew practices his ability by disappearing at one end of the occupy camp and reappearing at the other end of the camp while everyone else is sleeping. A tear gas grenade bounces off of a tent and hits the ground. Andrew disappears from his spot, reappears near the grenade, picks it up and throws the grenade back. Police officers rush the camp. They knock down the tents. Police in riot gear drive people out of the camp where empty trucks are waiting to take the occupiers to jail. Andrew is shoved into a cluster of people and disappears.

END SCENE

EXT. WILDERNESS
Andrew appears in an earth with thick wilderness. He hears a lot of small voices speaking at the same time. Andrew takes a few steps forward. He hears loud voices.

Shia

He’s not like the other up walkers.

Rawl

They’re all the same to me.

Andrew stops.

Andrew

I am not a threat to you. I came here from an alternate earth seeking knowledge.

A panther jumps out on one side of Andrew and a wolf jumps out on the other side.

Shia

He does not seem to be dangerous like them.

Andrew

I am not like them.

Rawl

He can hear our thoughts. Let me tear out his throat.

Shia

How can you hear us up walker?

Andrew

I can travel between dimensions to and from alternate earths. It must also give me the power to hear you.

Shia

What are you called up walker?

Andrew

I am called Andrew. What are you called?

Shia

I am Shia and my more aggressive friend is Rawl.

Andrew

Shia, I would like to know more about you, Rawl and your world, if you would allow me. If you say I’m intruding, I will leave right now.

Shia

What do you want to know?

Andrew

What have the people like me, the up walkers, done to upset you and Rawl so much?

Shia

The up walkers upset every part of our world. We have been charged with ridding our world of all of them.

Andrew

Were they ever worthy of your world?

Shia

They once were in tune with the rest of us, but they began to destroy everything around them. The up walkers called it development. The rest of us suffered great losses, but eventually we beat them back. They never came back into the fold. The up walkers continued to deteriorate and now they must be dealt with.

Andrew

Can I see some of the up walkers?

Shia

We are about to destroy the last of their camps right now. If Rawl agrees, you can travel with us.

Rawl

If he can keep up.

Shia, Rawl and Andrew run through the jungle. Shia and Rawl are excited to see how Andrew can fall behind, disappear and reappear ahead of them. The group arrives at a camp. The up walkers live in huts made with sticks and animal skins. The up walkers are dirty and partially covered. Shia and Rawl step back to give Andrew a chance to communicate with the up walkers.

Andrew

Hello, my name is Andrew.

Up Walkers

DEFENSE! DEFENSE!

 
The up walkers begin to throw rocks and sticks at Andrew. One squats to move his bowels in another man’s hand. The second man throws the waste at Andrew. Andrew backs toward Shia and Rawl, who are standing at a distance to observe the interaction.

Andrew

They are abominations.

Shia and Rawl charge the up walkers along with other panthers and wolves. Andrew watches as the last of this earth’s human beings are ripped apart. Limbs are flying around in every direction. The vultures pick up the large pieces and beetles bury the rest. The beetles were the small voices from earlier.

END SCENE

EXT. JUNGLE.
Shia, Rawl and Andrew walk away from the camp to rest around a tree. They sit silent for a few hours. Andrew stands.
 

Andrew

Thank you Shia. Thank you Rawl. I will not return here. You deserve to be free of up walkers.

Shia rises to lick Andrew’s Face.

Shia

You are always welcomed here.

Rawl holds up a paw. Andrew stretches out his hand to meet Rawl’s paw.

Rawl

You’re alright with me.

 
Shia and Rawl turn to walk away. After a few steps, they look back and Andrew is gone.
