NEW DYSTOPIA #1

INT. BLUE LINE EXPRESS TRAIN
Passengers are sitting on the train that rides the blue line express track. An old, skinny woman enters the train car. The woman is shuffling through the train car with her twisted body. A woman sitting across from Tim elbows her boyfriend.

Woman

Babe, it’s zombie woman!

Woman’s Boyfriend

Wow, she is creepier looking in person.

Woman

Take your device out.

Zombie Woman

I’m homeless. Can anyone give some money to get something to eat?

Some passengers take their devices out to join the couple. Zombie Woman shuffle close to Tim, and he presses his device. A sound of coins dropping onto a pile of coins goes off on Zombie Woman’s device that is hanging around her neck. People give Zombie Woman credits all the way down the train.

Zombie Woman

Thank You!

 Zombie Woman disappears into the next train car. Tim rides the train to his stop. Tim walks out of the train station, and down the street. Tim arrives at his building, lifts the front door, and pushes to get into the building. Tim closes the door until he hears a click. Tim walks up a flight of stairs up to his door. Tim unlocks a large padlock to pull it from two steel loops. Tim walks inside his apartment and puts the lock into two steel loops on the inside of the door, but does not lock it. Tim hears the coin sound on his device. Tim checks the phone to see that he has a new subscriber to Brooklynbrain.stack.com. Tim writes:

Welcome! And Thank You For Your Support.

Tim laid on his bed and started watching videos of Fred Hampton.

INT. BUBBA BROWN’S LIVING UNIT
Bubba Brown wakes up and jumps out of bed. Bubba Brown goes to the closet of his living unit, and unlocks the closet door to check his inventory. Bubba Brown sells items that he creates and items that he can liberate from the wards. A warning bell goes off on Bubba Brown’s device. Bubba Brown locks his closet quickly and runs downstairs to meet the delivery drone. Bubba Brown is waiting on the sidewalk for his shipment to arrive. A neighbor walks by.

Neighbor

What’s Up Brown? What You Got?

Bubba Brown

Hey brotha. A little bit of this and little bit of that.

Neighbor

Alright, later.

Bubba Brown

Later brotha.

Bubba Brown can hear the buzzing of the drone get louder. The warning bell goes off on Bubba Brown’s device again. Bubba Brown turns his head away from the street. The drone shines a blinding light as it descends toward the ground. The drone lowers the package to the middle of the street, and rises quickly to fly away. Bubba Brown runs to the street to pick up his package after the drone flies away. Bubba Brown runs upstairs to open his package. The package is tools that Bubba Brown uses to turn scraps he finds across the border of the wards and the wild blocks into products for sale. Bubba Brown begins to study the cardboard box to see what he can change it into.

INSIDE THE WARD

INT. (NEE-SAY)NEESE’S APARTMENT
Neese is sitting inside of her apartment in of ward 3. Neese hears a dripping sound. Neese stands up.

Neese

What the hell is that?

Neese follows the noise to her bathroom. Neese sees water dropping from the ceiling. Neese reaches under the sink to grab the liquid copper and a mask. Neese puts the liquid copper on the back of her toilet and covers her face with the mask. Neese stands on the tub and pushes her ceiling panel up to slide it over. Neese reaches into the ceiling to turn the water valve off. Neese shakes the liquid copper for a few minutes and sprays her pipe slowly on each side and the bottom of the pipe. Neese step down onto her bathroom floor. Neese’s device buzzes. Neese taps her device to accept a video call.

Neighbor

Hey

Neese

Hey

Neighbor

Is everything okay down there?

Neese

Yeah girl, I just had a leak, so I had to turn our bathroom water off.

Neighbor

Do you have liquid copper.

Neese

Girl you know I do. Thank God for it.

Neighbor

I know girl.

Neese

Remember when we used to have to go to the hardware store and buy pipes and unscrew pipes to screw new ones on?

Neighbor

Girl I don’t want to remember nothing like that.

Neese

Can you imagine going through the out blocks?

Neighbor

No! I don’t want to go nowhere near them. I wish they made the civil walls thicker.

Neese laughs.

Neighbor

Girl you made me have flashbacks.

Neese

Oh, girl I’m sorry.

Neighbor

I’m going to make tea with my kitchen water and relax my nerves.

Neese and Neighbor laugh.

Neighbor

Talk to you later.

Neese

Later and get some rest.

Neese taps her device to end the video call. Neese sits down to watch television. Liquid copper must dry for one hour before Neese can turn the water back on and slide her ceiling panel back into place.
