PEOPLE’S MUSEUM
INT. TIM’S APARTMENT
Tim wakes up and slowly rises from his bed. Tim walks to his bathroom to take a shower. Tim showers for a few minutes. Tim dries his body, hangs up the towel, and returns to his bed. Tim puts his clothes on to leave. Tim takes a lock from the door and walks into the hallway. Tim put’s his lock through two loops in his door, and locks his living space up. Tim walks outside, remembering to rig the front door of his building on the way out. Tim walks to the train system for the local blue line to ride to the international museum. Tim’s device makes a shuffling sound as the train system automatically takes credits from his account. Tim rides to the international museum and exits the train system. Tim walks into the museum and the Chinese art, controlled by Chinese people. Tim walks to the modern art section with an exhibit about the city before it was New Dystopia. Tim is looking at a painting of the last riot. Reb walks over to stand next to Tim.
Reb
Hello Tim, my name is Reb.
Tim
Yes.
Reb
I know you Tim.
Tim
This is the out blocks, everyone knows everyone else, or can find out with a simple swipe on our devices.
Reb
This is one of my favorite pieces. It shows how close we came to getting rid of those leeches.
Tim
We live free and secure lives, for the most part, and they are trapped behind a wall like rats.
Reb
They still get resources from our side of the wall. Out here in the free space.
Tim
They pay a heavy tax for whatever they take. Are you one of those revolutionaries that can’t live in the society that you fought for?
Reb
This is why we need you to be with us Tim! your mind is sharp and conceptual.
Tim
I’m here with you in every way. I paid you credits to see this exhibit. We control this museum and everything else. I’m satisfied with that. We can build some social order on that.
Reb
You make so many valid points. Our situation is good enough for now. I just want us to keep our eyes open.
Tim
Always Reb, always.
Tim and Reb stare at the painting together.

CIVICS DAY
EXT. RIGHT INSIDE OF THE CIVIL WALL
People are gathered inside of the civil wall. Venders are serving food and drinks. A DJ is playing music. Neese is sipping a drink. Neese sees her neighbor and waves. Neese’s neighbor walks over to Neese.
Neese’s Neighbor
Hey! What’s up?
Neese
How are you?
Neese’s Neighbor
I’m fine. I guess the pipes are holding up.
Neese
Girl, don’t even talk about it.
Neese’s Neighbor
I Know Girl. I have to make a repair every year. It’s usually easy, but I’m saying, can I get one year without a surprise.
Neese
As long as I can fix it, I’m good.
Neese’s Neighbor
I’m thinking about moving to another ward.
Neese
I thought about it for a second, I don’t know about that.
Neese’s Neighbor
I don’t want to move to the capital, they kind of stuck up.
Neese
Kind of?
Neese’s Neighbor
I Know, but maybe the second ward.
Neese
You go ahead girl, I’ll just do my repairs
Neese and her neighbor laugh. Mr. Ward steps in front of the DJ and grabs a mic.
Mr. Ward
Hell everybody.
The crowd quiets down to focus on Mr. Ward.
Mr. Ward
I am so glad that you all have gathered here for our sixth Civics Day. Eight years ago a group of us started building the civil wall. We were almost too late. The next year the society collapsed. We made sure to make space for the best and brightest and here you are.
The crowd claps and cheers.
Mr. Ward
You deserve all the applause, and we are happy to be a part of your community. We gather here to show appreciation for each other, and appreciation for the civil wall. We had another successful year and let’s do it one more time.
Everyone in the crowd lifts their drinks, gulp down liquids of all kinds, and throws whatever held their drinks over the civil wall. The DJ begins playing music again. Bubba Brown is walking along the civil wall looking for something valuable to come flying to his side.
