PART 3

EXT. HEAD PLANTATION
Fell walks back to the Head plantation. Leetha Mae is staring at Fell. Fell nods his head toward the field and Leetha Mae goes to pick cotton. Edward spends his time on the back porch of the main house, watching the slaves work.

END SCENE

INT. CARL BIDEN’S PLANTATION MAIN HOUSE
Carl Biden begins to wake up. Glen is sitting in the corner watching his master. Carl Biden looks at Glen for a few seconds.

Carl Biden

There’s something going on at that damn plantation next door!

Glen

Are you alright?

Carl Biden

Did you hear what I said?

Glen

I heard you clear enough. What’s going on next door?

Carl Biden

I haven’t seen Master Head for days and when I went to check on him something knocked me out.

Glen leaned forward.

Glen

Someone knocked you out?

Carl Biden

No. Not someone, something, some kind of energy’s around that house. Do they have voodoo woman on that plantation?

Glen

They got a healing woman.

Carl Biden

She must have put some kind of spell on that house.

Glen

You believe in that stuff master Biden?

Carl Biden

You people have deep roots and mysteries that the white man will never understand. I’m not too foolish to understand that. It has nothing to do with belief.

Glen

What you gonna do master?

Carl Biden

Get over here and help me up!

Glen walks over to lift Carl Biden. Carl Biden puts an arm around Glen’s shoulder. Glen lifts Carl Biden.

Carl Biden

Hey. I’ll give 10% of the crops you pick to sell for yourself if you never mention this to the others.

Glen

Okay master.

END SCENE

EXT. HEAD PLANTATION
Fell walks over to Eunice’s shack in the slave quarters. Eunice is sitting in front of her shack rocking in an old rocking chair.

Fell

Something’s happening at the main house, and we need you to check it out.

Eunice

You finally got around to old Eunice.

Fell

We trying to keep as many people safe as possible.

Eunice

Let me get my things.

Eunice gets her staff that was carved from an old tree and a necklace of human teeth from slaves that refused to eat. Eunice and Fell walk to the main house of the Head plantation.

END SCENE

EXT. HEAD PLANTATION MAIN HOUSE
Eunice and Fell walk to the front of the Head Plantation’s front porch. Eunice stops and holds her hand up.

Eunice

There’s a powerful force here, very powerful.

Eunice and Fell walks through the force, up the stairs, and into the main house. Eunice keeps her hand up as she walks through the house until she reaches the back porch. Edward is standing on the back porch watching the rest of the slaves where he has spent a lot of his time. Eunice puts her hand on Edward’s head.

Edward

Mama Eunice. You supposed to fetch me if need something.

Eunice

The force is coming from you.

Edward

I know. I feel it.

Eunice

You did the right thing little Edward.

Eunice looks at Fell

Eunice

We gonna help you keep doing the right thing.

Eunice reaches for the knife in Edward’s pocket. Edward covers his pocket to protect the knife.

Eunice

It’s alright. The knife has power too. You know master got that knife from one of the tribes. The blade is steel, and the handle is buffalo horn. You and the weapon are tied together now.

Edward

What does that mean?

Eunice

The protection force is stronger when you two together.

Edward grabs Eunice’s hand.

Edward

I need you Mama Eunice.

Eunice

Don’t worry little one I’m here for you, we here for you.

Fell

I got to go get some work done. People starting to get nervous.

Eunice

We gonna come up with a plan later tonight.

Fell walks down to the field. Eunice and Edward stand on the back porch of the Head plantation house, watching the rest of the slaves work.
