Out Of His Darkness
TRIGGER WARNING: MENTION OF SUICIDE It had been one thing after another in Sawyers life. He’d worked his way out of his darkness. On his own and with the help of others. He was happier with his life.
Sawyer’s life hadn’t been the easiest. It’d been one thing after another. His Epilepsy along with not having any job experience often prevented him from being able to have a job. Or much of a life. He never had the money to do anything with any of his friends. The little money his dad gave him covered the basics and nothing more the majority of the time. Any money left over was often reserved for any emergencies that may happen. He let it be money that accumulated to leave the town that never loved him. He’d come out as Gay in High School. He’d often be told it was just a phase. To pray it away. He distanced himself from anyone that told him that. The Church he’d been raised in included. He’d shamed everyone for not practicing what they preached. That his mother would be ashamed of them for not loving him for who he is. He’d begun wallowing in the pain he felt after her death. He’d fallen into a deep Depression over time. He distanced himself from everyone. He’d spent his time drawing as time went on. Artwork he sold to various places as time went on.
One thing after another happened to him. His father, Constantine, had married Reagan. The marriage didn’t last long enough for him to move in with her. She’d been adamant he move in with her. Her unrealistic demands led to an argument between the two that led to divorce a year and a half after the marriage. Sawyer reminded Constantine that it was doomed from the start because of her unrealistic demands. Constantine kicked him out as a result. The argument they had was heard by their neighbors who saw Constantine leave after the argument. They checked on Sawyer after seeing Constantine leave. They helped him pack everything in hopes of getting him out before Constantine came home.
Constantine came back with a decent amount of money in hand. On top of money his neighbors gave him. He didn’t care that he was going to be homeless after he left. It was something he knew was bound to happen. Constantine had a habit of not listening to him. Or taking care of himself. He didn’t even care if he lived or not. He was Suicidal far more than anyone realized. He hadn’t even mentioned being Suicidal to begin with. He didn’t plan on saying anything. He stayed at Jacksons house for the night. Jackson took Sawyer to the Train Station early the next morning knowing it’d be the last time he’d see him. He hoped Sawyer would thrive in Miami Beach. He had a feeling that was going to happen. There were far more jobs and opportunities there.
Sawyer got a job four days after getting there. A happenstance occurrence. He’d been in the right place at the right time. He became a Marketer for one of the upscale Restaurants. They needed someone to help them attract more business. Sawyer had seen various things that could be done to make that happen. Six months passed by in the blink of an eye. He went from being in a Hotel room to a studio apartment near the Restaurant. He’d already received a raise for a job well done. He’d even jumped in as a Dishwasher more than once when he wasn’t fulfilling his duties as their resident Marketer. The spacious studio he’d moved into continually felt surreal to Sawyer. It had an Ocean view. It included a balcony that he never thought he’d have either. He was happy for once in his life.
That is the end of Out Of His Darkness. Thanks for reading.
