EXT. BACK PORCH OF HEAD PLANTATION’S MAIN HOUSE
Fell walks down to the field. Eunice and Edward stand on the back porch of the Head plantation house, watching the rest of the slaves work.
END SCENE
INT. ELITE BROTHER OF THE BOLD (EBB) HALL
Carl Biden walks into the EBB Hall OF Tchula Mississippi.
Carl Biden
I’m sorry to bother you brothers, but has anyone seen Brother head?
The brothers ignore Carl Biden. Some men are playing cards. Some men are drinking alcohol.
Carl Biden
No one? This is important!
Dr. Berg peeks over the top of the book he is reading.
Dr. Berg
He has been absent for weeks. Now can I read this text or are you going to continue yelling?
Carl Biden
Something is wrong at the Head plantation.
One of the men playing cards looks at Carl Biden.
Card Player
Is it a rebellion?
Carl Biden
It’s something.
The man starts playing cards again.
Dr. Berg
Come have a seat and calm yourself down Mr. Biden.
Carl Biden walks to Dr. Berg. Carl Biden sits at the table with Dr. Berg.
Dr. Berg
What happened, exactly?
Carl Biden
I felt something was wrong, so I went to the front door to talk to master Head and I felt strange, then I passed out.
Dr. Berg leans forward and looks around.
Dr. Berg
Say no more. It sounds like spells.
Carl Biden
That’s what I thought.
Dr. Berg
I know a man who can help us.
Dr. Berg and Carl Biden walk out of the EBB Hall.
END SCENE
INT. HEAD PLANTATION MAIN HOUSE
Eunice and Edward are watching the slaves return to their quarters after a day of work.
Eunice
Wait until the sun has been down for a bit, then ring the bell to call the slaves to the house.
Edward
What are we gonna do about the overseers? They must be wondering about their master.
Eunice
They’ll come running too. They always been jealous about how we were educated more than other slaves, so they watch close, but they can’t get through the force protecting us.
Edward
When they get close they’ll fall out like master Biden did, and the force may extend the protection around the house.
Eunice
You thinking right young Edward, but an evil person has to die before the force expands, and our neighbors name is Carl.
Edward
Is it their souls that are protecting us?
Eunice
You are a bright light young Edward. Souls are energy. Energy can flow in evil or righteousness. You just redirected the flow, protecting a people that were brutalized.
Edward
This is going to be a long fight.
Eunice
You’re the best one to lead it, and never forget, you got us on your side.
Edward
You and my parents, but I’m not sure about the others.
Eunice
They’ll follow or they won’t. Either way, you don’t worry about that. They are free men and women now, their future is theirs to choose.
END SCENE
EXT. FREEDMAN SECTION OUTSIDE OF TCHULA MISSISSIPPI
Dr. Berg and Carl Biden walk into a freedman section near Tchula to Obo’s house. Dr. Berg pulls a string connected to a cowbell outside of Obo’s house. The door opens. Dr. Berg walks in and Carl Biden follows him.
Dr. Berg
Hello old friend.
Dr. Berg reaches into a fearful Carl Bidens pocket for money. Dr. Berg puts cash on the table where Obo is sitting.
Dr. Berg
Don’t worry master Biden, it will be well worth it.
Obo takes the cash and signals for the men to sit down.
Dr. Berg
Tell Mr. Obo your story Master Biden.
Carl Biden
I discussed renting out a slave boy on his plantation.
Obo
Little Edward.
Carl Biden
Yes. After a few days I hadn’t heard from master Head, so I went over to his home. I stepped on the porch and began to feel dizzy. I don’t remember making it to the door. I woke up in my own study. One of my slaves says Fell brought me to him.
Obo stands up, walks over to the kitchen and puts Carl Biden’s cash in an empty jar. Obo screws the top onto the jar tight.
Obo
You have a few problems. Fell is a powerful slave. Head believed that Fell is a literal gift from God. Little Edward is more powerful than Fell, and a powerful spiritualist named Mama Eunice lives on the Head plantation.
Carl Biden
Yes, my slave mentioned her.
Obo
She is one of the most powerful beings I have ever met.
Dr. Berg
What about master Head?
Obo
He’s probably dead already.
Carl Biden
I knew it!
Dr. Berg
Come master Biden. We’ll need to gather a posse. Thank you old friend.
Obo nods to Dr. Berg. Dr. Berg and Carl Biden rush out of Obo’s house.
END SCENE
INT. OBO’S HOUSE
Obo unscrews the top of the jar holding Carl Biden’s cash. Obo adds certain powders and herbs to the jar. Obo lights a match and drops it into the jar. Obo speaks into the flame.
Obo
Mama Eunice?
Eunice can hear Obo through a flame of a candle in the study of the Head main house.
Eunice
Yes son.
Obo
Is it a justice spell?
Eunice
No spell, it’s a justice energy.
Obo
I knew little Edward was powerful, but not that powerful.
Eunice
It’s like nothing else we ever known.
Obo
They are coming for you.
Eunice
Let them come. They only feeding the force that protects us.
Obo
What about us?
Edward
All are welcome here.
Obo
Thank You Brother. I will see you when the time is right. Take care Mama Eunice.
Eunice
Take care son.
Obo puts the top back onto the jar to smother the flame. Obo stare out of his kitchen window and smiles.
