Unfiltered
She told her relatives everything they needed to hear before going no contact with them. She’d let her unfiltered feelings out before going on with her life. A happier than she ever had before.
Her toxic relatives had let their actions speak for them. They’d never once loved her anyway. She was the black sheep of the family after all. Harper didn’t care anymore though. She was going to live her life her way. Happily. Her truthful reaction to questions people asked left most speechless. Others had an inkling of her family’s behavior. Her unfiltered responses weren’t something people were expecting. People were shocked to hear they’d not even bothered to help her Wyatt with their health issues. It had gotten back to them in time though. She didn’t care. She knew there’d be an argument with them at some point. She knew they’d likely say something they shouldn’t. Or that they’d want to know why she'd said some things she’d said. Or both. Either way she knew it’d be the nail in the coffin. She’d been prepared for a while. She’d already been in low contact with them.
She’d gone on an unfiltered rant during the “family meeting” they’d called. She shamed them for not once being genuinely loved by them. Their actions had spoken for them. Not once had they bothered to help her after her health issues got worse. They hadn’t bothered to help Wyatt after his increased health issues either. It was the bare minimum they’d done that were dead ends. They’d not bothered to make sure it was the right place to go every time. That her mother would be ashamed of them for failing her. That she’d disown them for failing her. She told them everything she needed to hear that they didn’t want to hear. She told them she was going no contact with them once she walked out the door. Their silence told her everything as she was grabbing her things. It was everything she needed to know
She’d gone on with her life. The next year of her life took her to Atlanta. Where she’d stared out the window of her spacious Loft. She’d done well for herself. Her job in Marketing had given her opportunities she’d thought she’d never have. Opportunities she’d worked hard for. She’d been living in Miami Beach as a Remote Freelance Copywriter for the last year until she’d moved to Atlanta. Her boss recommended the job to her. A friend of his was looking for someone to join his Marketing team. She’d taken the opportunity knowing she’d be able to have a far better life in Atlanta.
She’d been staying in an extended stay Hotel the first two months in Atlanta. Her search for an apartment had taken longer than she’d thought. She didn’t mind. She’d found the Loft she was living in after seeing the sign on the wall of the building saying there were availabilities. The only Loft she’d seen was the one she’d signed a lease for. She’d often reflect on the last year of her life. How much things had changed. It’d been a year of change. She went about the rest of her day knowing she was finally happy with the life she was living.
That is the end of Unfiltered . Thanks for reading.
